Yup ... after about 7 if its a good drive away, but if its in the area i'm working ill do it on way home :)
 
Would do it on my phone in work but iPhones don't have office, plus I don't think you can attach a file via email with them...

It would be so much easier if I had a standard price per m2 but to me it's never that easy with most jobs..
 
so are your kids little terwats then??? just tell then to be quiet or get them to do it for you :RpS_wink:

You can attatch files via email on an I phone mate
 
as far as visiting a customers house to quote i prefer weekend for that
no rush ...have a coffee with them if ime lucky

working out quote and emailing usually sun or after 7pm..
 
for most of our work i like to meet the clients about 7pm when the soaps are on tele.
our large jobs are usually in the bag before i do a quote.
if i find that someone else has quoted for the works, i do not waste my time on that one.
 
i usually price my own stuff at the weekends i usually aim to start quoting at about 10am saturday morn, but at the mo were so busy that the fella i work for is sending me to quote through the day in the week as he doesnt have time to quote all the jobs, which is nice to know theres lots in the books
 
I hate people who ring and expect that you can drop around in the middle of the day to discuss their project. It's nearly impossible for the sole trader to make the time but sometimes you have to..

I get my misses to do it all, but before that she opens me a cold beer, runs my bath,starts the tea,rubs my back, opens another beer, loads dishwasher,feeds the cat,irons my going out clothes then starts the washing machine. If she gets a bit fruity later I check the quotes then its up to bed!:RpS_cool:

Cant believe you got her a dishwasher!! You spoil her!! Lucky lady :RpS_laugh:
 
I can't look at jobs in the evenings because I have to go to Mothers after tea and often get back about 9.20pm. I look at jobs Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings. between 2 and 4 jobs a week. Out of those 1 might be serious the others are dreamers.

No one knows what they want (rendering)? So it is get out the samples and explain every one and they still don't know! So they ask me to quote for the lot!

I work out prices at dinner time and as soon as I get in. Quoting is done by email often after 9.30pm and is almost every night with other administration jobs like invoicing and paying bills etc.

It is doing my head in! Can't relax as there is always a quote that needs doing and if they have not received it within 3 days they are on the blower complaining. Work 7 days and 6 nights a week and only getting paid when i slap stuff on the wall, the rest of my time is for free and wasted on people who have no intention of having the work done.

F,ing customers! I hate em'

You guys have too many free weekends, We do 6-7 days a week, everyday is a work day. Only quote in the evening or way home.
 
working 6 7 days a week?? :RpS_scared: theres not enough money in the world for me to work 6 7 days a week
why on earth would you or anyone want to work every day of your life??

Talking of sprogs, my missus gave birth to my first child at 9.11pm last night :) ....

Today is my 4th day of in the last 40 days, and i worked everynight untill about 8-9 ish a couple of weeks ago. The only reason i do it is too keep everyone happy. People don't p*ss about nowadays they will just get someone else, and i dont wanna lose what maybe a decent contact for the sake of working a Sunday or going a doing a few hours in the evening.

I hear the attitude all the time ... ""I'm not working weekend" "Fu*k working late" then half of them wonder why the phone dont ring and they go no work.

Going have to feed my son somehow :)

Cheers man ... A Boy! Calling him Joseph. Kim and the baby have been kept in over night. I Had the best nights sleep in months :)

you do need time off at weekends to get a rest. if you are not carefull you will be working 7 days to produce 5 days work as you will be over tired.
try to crank your prices up so that you can earn a wage in 5 days. if you can not earn a wage in 5 days then the job is no good to you.
 
I see your point Malc ... but i'm not happy with earning a wage after 5 days. i want more, and ill rest when the phone goes quiet and when am older. You cant have everything you want in life by earning a wage 5 days a week.
