Its funny how you can call yourself "The plasterers 1 stop shop" yet you only have 1 trowel for sale and you dont even sell handboards!!!! LMFAO

Cotton wool is a bit extreme...! I see where your coming from with just sticking to what you know. But these tools do make your work easier and can increase productivity. Same as saying: you can apply by hand, it works, same results every time. Why use a machine?

Ive tried all the new fandangled tools that come on the market, believe me if there is a quicker easier way to apply and finish then i would know but there isnt. Ive got speedskims, s*p*r*lex spats, sponges, plastic trowels ive tried machines, Ive gone toe to toe skimming with a guy using a machine and he was no quicker i always end up just using my handboard and trowel, its tried and tested. There is no easier or quicker way!!!!

I agree with gibbo and ckj there all gimmicks these
Trowels will save maybe 10 mins at the end of each set
But if you think it's gonna increase productivity that's b*ll***s
And just a sales pitch. They are handy for final pass that's all.
They are a lot cheaper than eBay tho

We setup sprayed 212m2 finished and packed up in 3 3/4 hours before christmas. Used speedskims, s*p*r*lex spats and plastic trowels. 2+1 gang.

That ant going to be happening by hand

Nice one Steve!!

doing that by hand would really knacker your arms, shoulder and elbow!!

Was that the ceiling you were on about? What material did you use?

As previously mentioned our website is being re-done. We do sell trowels and also hand boards. They have been sold for a while now but not something on our online shop.

Oh and fingers crossed we will be stocking Marshall town

They are not cheaper on eBay?? I have just been on eBay! The spats and speedskims can increase the amount you can do, it quite simple. More surface area covered for a start!

I understand some of you guys may not be a fan of spatulas, plastic trowels or even machines. The thing is people want them.. We have Been asked by many people to get the new tools in. It is a massive growth in the market for tools and we want to be able to provide this for our customers.

Gibbo, I personally have never used the plastic trowel. Why do you think I'm getting reviews on them before I start selling them. I want to know what they are about myself

You are deluded if you think they increase output and when did you become a spread your old man ain't one

This is the joys of the forum...............it would be boring if we all agreed..........................:RpS_thumbup:

no matter how good these new tools are you still have to look after the amount of plaster you have put on...so IMO i cant see how they increase productivity....if you can only manage a 3 bag set then it doesnt matter how quick you can flatten it off with a speedskim etc. you can still only put on a 3 bag set!!
But like Ryan says...if people want them then it would be silly for him not to sell them..as always each to there own..................:RpS_thumbup:

Gibbo, enough people think they do. Fair enough if you don't. As artisan says the forum wouldn't be as much fun if we all agreed!

Never claimed to be a spread.... Yet am involved in the industry. I will be honest my plastering knowledge is not great. But EWI and Rendering I am pretty confident with them. We all have a to start somewhere and learn something. I did my time on site labouring for different people and enjoyed it. I have been dealing with many manufacturers for years now and have a great relationship with them, they have also sent tech guys to meet me just to bring me up to speed on the products and uses etc.

They don't increase output and anyone who thinks they do are fooling themselves a machine can increase output not a spat and in an earlier post you said you hadn't used the plastic trowel yet as if you were gonna and really my first post was a review of plastic trowels they are shite end of

Thanks for your review Gibbo, I never realised I even sent you one! What this thread was about was a review on our plastic trowels. And what I asked was for the guys testing them to give a review. As you don't even like plastic trowels a review from you would be pretty pointless...

And I will use that trowel at some point, I want to know as much as I can about the products I sell and actually enjoy having a go with everything and learning more about the trade itself

you don't get it I've have used that exact type bought of eBay so i know they are useless so no my review ain't pointless

I will tell you everything you need to know about them now in one word SHITE

With regards to productivity I'm not saying these trowels will improve it. However the spats and speedskims will help. IMO This will only really account for machine applied, reasons being you can get so much more on in one and with these tools it allows you to flatten / finish more area at quicker speed. So they themselves may not individually increase productivity but they do aid the over all process

Sorry Gary I didn't realise you used one of these from eBay...

This was the conflict i and some other people had when speedskim came out and they said some thing ridiculous like it increases productivity by 100%........which is obviuosly tosh...........these things clearly have a market but making bold statements like that is gonna lead to a backlash

See your changing tact bringing machine applied into it most people who have speedskims and spats haven't got machines but have fallen for sales patter

We could go on for days here and get nowhere. Which I think it will. There are enough people out there who believe in these products and enough people who don't as well. You may not like them, fair enough. You don't need to buy one. There are also lots of people who like these tools who are machine or hand applied. Each to there own. I'm only saying what the manufacturers and the end users have passed onto us.

What was the job, was it big jumbo walls on a commercial project or small walls in a house, the bigger the wall the easier it is, we used to do the asda's all over the country and some times we was getting 10-11 bags on in a gauge 2+1 gang finished in 2 hours

Fair play though but i havent seen a good gang with a machnie yet

I am a total plastic trowel virgin, but look forward to tryin it out. I don't for one minute believe it will increase productivity, same as speedskim, and it doesn't,but still has it's uses, the only thing that can increase productivity as far as I can see, is machine plastering. Mabye plastic, spats etc are more advantageous to machine plastering, to me it's just another trowel, Danny mac and jr have the refina plazzi so they have another to compare it to. I'll see how it goes, it might not be to everyones liking, it may just be another trowel ... Don't believe the hype...:RpS_thumbup:

These are the plastic trowels that i sell. They are from Italy, are superb quality and once worn in leave a lovely finish. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130827050207

They dont need to be broken in :) I took the corners off with a bit of 1200 wet n dry and its nice :)

Although not tried Ryans ones yet :)
