I'd be interested in hearing as much feed back as poss nick I'm really tempted in one of these bad boys

s+c today. under the instruction of blones, ruled it, let it pick up, spatted it like you would mp75 to take off high spots and fill holes. let it pick up a bit and used the sponge float. i got on it a bit early so had to use it twice, followed by a normal sponge to tidy it up. came out nice and was pretty easy

If you're interested, we've recently added this machine to our hire list. Price is £50 per week, plus the cost of any consumables.

As with anything we hire, if you decide to buy the machine at the end of the hire period, you would only have to pay the difference.

leon. only complaint so far with it is the glue that the velcro is stuck with to the pads is crap. iv had a few of them pull off already.

Hi I recently got a power float for monocouche, do you use the Diamond faced plate on it first then the scrapper, can't get her to go right for me just end up doing it by hand

Does anyone know whether you can trowel up or polish multi with these machines? i know you can sponge up plaster and render with them

how are u finding the float for rubbing up s&c nick ive tried it a few times and not 100% sure i trust it yet ive had a few cracks and boss patches here and there i cant help but think it moves the render around to much?

iv foun it alright mate. iv tried it a couple of different ways. rulling off then spatting at a hard angle to scrape off high spots, then the sponge. or just as normal and using the float. personally prefered the float. southernmonkey stuart is using mine atm on sm700 and really likes it.

grump used it with me the other week on cpi also and liked it. what gear have you been using it on? how wet/firm have you been getting on it?

Hi nick i ended up getting one sent out to oz and its not to bad,i got the hard sponge, troweling up pad and black plastic float but that wasn't flat so i cant use it have only used it once but i think its worth what i paid do you know if they do a orange sponge for plaster?

yes they do have a orange sponge for plaster

I've been using it on cpi 2 coating which I think where the problem lies I think its better on 1 coat applications but for thin coat adhesives I would of thought it would be ideal.

Hi Camnz.

We stock a number of different sponges for this machine.

unfortunately not all the stock is on our website, but we do have an orange sponge.

its a medium sponge that has the velcro back so will go straight on your backing plate. the code is 550411 and is £29 + VAT.

if you'd like anymore information about the other attachments then give me a shout!

Cheers, Harry

How the hell can a piece of fecking sponge be worth £29+vat?
Sorry not "worth" we all know it's not worth that, but how can Refina charge that and sell them?

they can get away with charging the earth because no one else is really selling them in the UK, so there is no competition. Surely you could buy a whole sheet of this rubber orange sponge sheeting? maybe for a fiver, anyone have any internet links?

I cant see why they cost so much - its a friggin polisher/grinder with a sponge mop on it
I worked on the cars when i left school spraying and our buffer machines were the same and had to be spot on because they were in constant use 8 hrs every day and cost less than that

PS they were not these BandQ jobbies you see for wax they were for use with cutting compound after a painted car had been sanded/flatted off with 2500 grit - proper kit

I worked for almost a year as a SMART detailer for ford when i left school. Still got my buffer you reckon a sponge and scratch attachment would work???

Is there a plastic float attachment to float acrylic bucket renders?

defenitely worth a try mate, i was even toying with the idea of putting some kind of home made attachment on my small refina drill! like a sponge or plastic circular disk, come on lets boycott refina - greedy bastards lol

the Smart kit we had in the bodyshop was very small mate and the polisher was an air powered hand held (one hand) job more like a dentist tool.

the polishing machine we used for full resprays etc was as big as say a big grinder or similar to the powerfloat.

not sure if you on the road smart fellers had a bigger polisher or the same dinky one we had ? ?

Our polisher had a velcro pad and the mop just stuck on so I recon the float sponges would fit directly on also
