take it its a common problem for us plasterers (tennis elbow) has any on got any tried and tested treatments cuz im sounding like a tube off smarties when i walk LoL so any feedback would be great

my son lost a years work over tennis elbow, but when he got to the consultant they found out that a muscle in his arm had fused to the bone giving pain. a simple op.to slice the muscle from the bone and hes been ok since.

A brickie was talking to the other day told me about a plasterer he knows that had success with that arm strap you linked to NPS.

I used to get tendinitus in my wrist which meant i couldnt use my left hand for days at a time and occasionally really bad pain in my upper right shoulder, meant i couldnt lift my arm above my chest height without extreme pain, never knew why though and thankfully ive been pain free for a year n a half.

Que tendinitus tomorrow!!!

That's bad mate!!
But next time i would ask the mrs for a hand :RpS_thumbup:

Danny the specialist told me about 18months ago that the straps dont work, but now ive got it in both arms and the docs told me all i can do is keep having an injection every 6 months (i asked him for surgery and he told me that if i had surgery my arms would be fooked has i wont hardly be able to move them) but someone i know told me about this strap so i thought sod it for less than £20 im gonna try it, ill let you know if it does owt when i get it

Ive a got one of those copper bracelet things with the magnets in. It seem to have reduce the pain but it hasnt totally disappered . Might just all be in my head and the copper bracelet could be bullshit. I know a couple of lads who use that strap thing what NPS was on about but i think cortosone injections are next then an op if they dont work. Or i could just man up and stop being a fag seen as im tyneside toughened.........:RpS_thumbup:

ive been having the injections in my elbow every 6 months for ages now, about 2 months staggered though left then right, your only supposed to have a couple of injections though not like every 6 months:RpS_unsure:

FFS search the forum there has been loads written about this, realy need a sticky about it, them straps work well and if your doctor is willing to give you a cortisone injection every 6 months he is a no nothing c**t.

correct mate!! i told him the other year that i dont want anymore!! he said 'i understand' but now the elbows are beyond funny now!!! ive tried loads of stuff, physio and the likes. but hes told me that they are that bad theres only one thing to do and thats to change jobs because surgery just wouldnt allow me to do my job if i decided on it so it looks like injections (last one fncking killed, the worsted ive had yet)

I'm heavily right handed but have lately thought that it wouldn't be impossible to learn to spread with my left.

Anyone tried it?

Danny,

I always put on right handed, but I can trowel up with either ,and this is because tendonitus in the right forced me to do so.
I deffinetly helps, tricky to start with, mastered in 3 months or so.

i can plaster with both hands.....one for me hawk and the other for me trowel........on a serious note though im failry ambidextrous and had a go plastering with my opposite hand a little while when my elbow was playing up and it just came naturally straight away so that was a touch

i got rid of my tennis elbow with using ice 2/3 times a day and going to physio once a week. it cost £35 a sesh but really work

Might give it a go on an area that doesn't matter to much.

Dont have any more injections Ian ime telling you it will fcuk you arm right up try the strap and see how you get on, i had the op years ago and its never stopped me from working in fact it cured it nowadays i get the od twinge but i put that down to old age.

when i go back to the docs im gonna tell him again that im not having anymore and can i go for the op! Andy how long was your arm out for when you had it done ?

Thats the problem its only a small op but i think it was about 4 weeks before i could get back to work.

I think you should do a vid showing all the exercises you were given from the physio so we dont have to pay £35 a session.........:RpS_thumbup:

Lol, yeah mate its a proper op well it was when i had it done but thinking about it that was getting on for 30 years ago so things may have changed a bit, the surgeon who did it pionered this op for tennis elbow and also invented the tennis elbow strap my mum worked with him so i jumped all the waiting lists which were about 6 months in them days but bearing in mind he was the only one doing them.It was funny when i whent for the assesment this bloke was so well respected his Jag with personal plates was parked on a no parking spot and when i entered the office to see him there was a big no smoking sign behind him and him sat down with a big lardy on, his name was Dr Chen not with us anymore but sadly missed and a legend in that field of surgery.
