Hello all,

As of next month we will be relaunching the new range of s*p*r*lex spats. The new range will be in blue and we will have the facility to repair and/or replace any damaged blades.

We realise that the blades need some looking after, so we are hoping that this will make the spats more economical for you. I will update again when we have stock in and we will be doing a promotion via the email newsletters, so sign up on our homepage if you haven't already.

Regards,
Leon

id gladly test one of your mixers for ya and i will be completely honest when i write my review :RpS_thumbsup: infact id like to test one of your smaller mixers, you know one of those you can sling in the back of the van just incase you need to knock a small amount up (elbows are too ****** to keep knocking it up with the gauger )

Will these ones not fall apart like the red ones? The end caps come off far to easily. The one that we sent back and you guys re glued has come away again. bit poor for such expensive tools and I really don't want to pay postage to send them back just for you to stick them back on.

thats piss poor is that!!

Whats with all this "repair" if goods not fit for purpose surely good customer service would be a new spat or a refund? I have a red one but only used it twice so its fine so far

Had to pay postage to send it back. I would not have bothered if I know they would just stick it back on.

not very good is it really its all fair and well fixing it rather than replaceing it as its only little bits to fix but to have it break again is bad, thats like one of us doin a job then saying to the customer ill proberly have to do it again because ive used substandard materials to do it this time.
itll be interesting to see what these new ones are like i was always interested in getting a spat but never got round to it, i think ill wait and see what the review is like for the new one, will you be ordering one currier??

heres an idea for ya leon wen someone orders something in the package you could send out a returns label to be used at any point if it needs repairing (obviously provideing you do repairs on said tool) then wen you send out the repaired or replaced item send out a new label, i think this would win alot of popularity with trades people.
i dnt know how true this is but an old chippy once told me that wen stanley first started up they used to say to people if it breaks bring it back to me and ill replace it free of charge as your placeing your faith in me to deliver the goods, it doesnt matter what went wrong with it just bring it back and i will replace it guaranteed for life, they won alot of people round this way.
just some food for though leon

and i only want 10% of the profits made from repeat and new customers for this ideas leon so its a bargin really or ill just take a new mm30 and £100 free tools in you cnt do 10% profits :RpS_thumbup::RpS_thumbsup:

Thanks guys. Will have a think on the returns labels. Anything we supply is guaranteed for trade use for a year, if there is any fault with the product let us know and we'll replace/refund after inspection.

Sorry about the end cap currier, they are quite fragile because of the shape if the extrusion. If the cap comes off the pins that hold it on the inside are probably broken. We'll soon have new end caps to replace any that get broken. When we do I'll post one out to you FOC.

The tool is fit for purpose, to achieve the results it does it needs a very thin, high grade steel that unfortunately can be damaged easily e.g. If you drop it. With this in mind and knowing that it is an expensive tool, we will be able to offer a repair service in case of accidental damage. This will be chargeable but it'll be much cheaper than replacing the spat.

i just think people will just go back to the trowel leon, not saying that the spat is no good cos as i said ive never had one always wanted one though, but if the blade is that prone to damage its just gonna be easier to revert back to a trowel thats more hard wearing than having to pay time and time again to have it fixed, thats why i said about the free returns lables at least it would take some of the sting out of haveing to pay for the repairs.
any news on my 10% profits or free mm30 and £100 free tools?:RpS_wink:

Haha no news on the mm30 and free tools. Will let you know if that changes..

Fair enough. The spats have sold well for us and people seem to really like them. However we have been told that blade is fragile and needs looking after so we are trying to address that by offering a repair service.

i understand that leon but seriously think about the lables because although it is good that you are offering a repair for a price to then have to pay postage ontop......it could just get monotonous, i just think the labels could stop people from just thinking sod it ill just use a trowel, it just shows you giveing summit back to the trades people useing your tools on a daily basis.
also giveing me the mixer and tools for the feedback would show people how much of customer orientated company and how improtant out views are hahaha:RpS_thumbsup:, im all about helping mate

thanks leon we have 3 dead end caps :(

Im guessing the repair service for the blades is only on the new ones?

there ya go leon mixer £380+ £100 tools +postage= cheapest business advice i bet youve ever had:RpS_thumbup:

Leon are you just buying the new blue versions from a different company? I know there's a company that did the blue set for a fraction of the price a while back.

I'll make sure you get three end caps then currier. Repairs will only be on the new blue versions.

Beddy, as far as I know the blue ones that were available were slightly different - stiffer blade and intended as a scraper. Until now we haven't been able to have them produced in blue because of a conflict with their largest customer who also has them in blue but not in England.

Ill bring up the postage labels Tuesday and see what reaction I get. Thanks.

I put a trowel over it with one of them spats and it either tore it to **** or left a s**t load of ripples

And apparently they make pi$$ poor cavity closers unlike some tools.

Yer spunky I didn't rate them on multi much better on spray. Andy speedskims are excellent i really don't understand all the negativity from you guys towards them.

I've started using mine more now. Better if you flatten in a bit earlier. I never used to flatten between coats but now I do while I'm waiting for the lab to knock up for laying in

Ime with Gibbo here ive fcuked about with them all and plastics and all a waste of time realy just as quick with a trowel,if anyone is holidaying in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal this summer and needs a spat get one then much cheaper the only time i would use a spat is on projection they work ok on that.

Steve I'm sure they're fine for closing in the Thistle Spray Finish but you'll never convince me they're any good for trowelling a wall/ceiling to a finish as I know how much effort and at times pressure is required to get the finish I require, which is only going to be achievable with a steel trowel. These really aren't a new idea and if you do like them why don't you just get a cavity closer at a fraction of the price?

Andy you have to take in to account that when spraying, the material is at a even thickness before you even touch it. Once closed in there are no ridges ect. So why do you need to trowel with so much pressure???

Hi all,

Just discussed the returns labels, we do cover postage for warranty returns already, but this is organised through our couriers coming to collect from you. Not sure what the advantage would be of us providing the labels with any order where there might be a return, our carriage quotes for reverse collections aren't a standard price so it would mean calculating the postage for the collection on every order in addition to printing the label, so it would be pretty time consuming.

What do you think about me just including a standard returns form with our address etc on it? This could be filled in for a return, reason for return etc etc. If your tool/machine qualifies for a warranty repair, we will pick up the carriage and you'll just need to stick the label on and it'll be collected by our couriers. Will also include some info on our returns policy.

If anyone has anymore ideas, let me know. I'll get something sorted by the end of the week :).

Cheers,
Leon

you can only do what you can do leon, i wasnt on about a label with every product though, what i ment was say i just buy an internal or something like that and it gets broke or i dnt like it then for that order thats not really a repairable order so it would just get a standard returns form.............but say i order a mixer or a spat or something that can be repaired even if its past its warrenty i get a lablel in the box that if i take it to the post office it can be returned for free, for either a cargeable repair or a warrenty.
this was theres no guess work with how much to make the returns lable out to wen you send the ticket out because you know what your sending out if its a repairable tool.
example: mr A ordered a internal trowel and wetting in brush (non repairable) you send out standard returns form covered for however long
mr B ordered an internal and a brush (non repairable) and a spat and a mixer (repairable) in his box he gets a standard returns for for the lot covering his warrenty, if mixer breaks within the warrenty he gets it sorted no dramas, BUT if it happens to break out of the warrenty he has a lable that came in original package that will cover the costs of sending the repairable mixer and spat, providing he takes it to the post office all wrapped up and ready to go, obviously if he sends it with the lable then its out of warrenty and he is carged for the repair but not the cost........................thus winning over hearts and minds earning you a pukka reputation, everyone loves you and i have a nice shiney new mm30 and £100 worth of tools for goin dragons den on yo ass.
