Most of my m8s retrained as tradesman, we all do well out of it, my electrician earns over £50,000 a year and hes only got his Part P which took about 8 weeks on a course!

Plastering is a tough trade to be in at the moment because its a luxury for most people to have it done. You would be better training as an electrician or plumber.

I'm i'm working for my m8s £120 skimming £150 rendering

Private customers £150 skimming - £200 rendering

Fair enough it probably evens out...can't see domestic being better than site work at the moment anyway not as if i'm stacked out.

Mikey. Good things happen when you try. Stick at it. This isn't the best web site in the world to get a sympathetic response. They are right though, its hard but its a cycle of boom and bust that many of us have experienced in the 70's and the 90's and now. Work for £20 a day if that is what it takes. Its easier to get something better when you working and gaining experience.

Being a good tradesman isn't beyond the grasp of the ordinary person. Taking a course is a first step even if it doesn't lead to a life in plastering you will have learnt things that are useful in other areas of endeavour. Reading what people write on this site would lead you to believe that they are tradesmen due to some supreme gift rarely bestowed by a supernatural power. Most are tradesmen because the economy and opportunities were better when they were young and they had the wit or chance to grasp opportunities which are more difficult to get now. Some of the tradesmen on this site if in your situation would be struggling as you are. Instead of the slap dash uncaring fcuk yuo I'm all-right-jack attitude that they adopt, it would be better if they were a lot more humble.

There ought to be a rule that newbies are respected on their first post.

See what you'vre started Mikey. You newbies coming on here irritating skilled men. Troubling them with your little problems when they have big things to discuss.

I used to work for a firm called Murphy plastering Eddie and when we would turn up on site people would ask us if we tarmaced walls lol I don't know why i just thought of that lol

Wouldnt mind "seeing" your special skills Steve, and I don't mean copy and paste

My point exactly. When you are at ease with yourself and society in general its not necessary to attack others verbally or via sarcasm. There is no need to tell the world of your special talents or lesser talents for that matter; you've got it and people recognise it, and if they don't who cares? What's the big deal about offering a little bit of kindness to people who are struggling? All of us who have achieved 'skilled man' status have benefited from the trade skills of those who went before us; its our turn to be nice to newbies. Yeah, we know they are naive, innocent, wanting an easy life blah, blah. Every older generation says that of those following them.

Its taken me all night to find somewhere to cut and paste this from.

I like the editing. Reason: compressed

I think he's saying he wants to shag you Steve :rolleyes)

I think your right. A bit of perceptive thinking there Spunky. I shall view your posts for more insightful gems. Irish I had to look all over the internet to cut, paste and compress this for you.
