The worst bodge I have seen.I wasworking on a swimming pool and the lad doin the tiling wanted to use bathroom and shower sealant for the internals. Needless to say he was a pole.it made me laugh for weeks the sealant was from b&q priceless.

You ought to have a look at some of the reskim bathroom threads some lads on here want to turn them into swimming pools

yeh thats what i thought but weightwise is what im thinking... as in kg per square of tiles etc... never seen any figures for it...

think travertine etc...

those big f'ck off heavy tiles about 15mm thick, like natural stone slices...
cant fit em on board and skim, theyre overweight for the susbstrate...
we had a thread on it a while ago, i went and found a table somewhere with all the weights of different tile materials such as stone, porcelain etc on it per metre square, well it was a density calculator actually...
then compare that to the weight of tile a given finish will take, such as render, render and skim (slightly less), board (less still) board and skim (even less)...
think hardibacker is a tad under what 3:1 s+c devil floated is...

thats why i was asking about dricoat... ill go have a look see if its mentioned in bg site but ive never heard it mentioned on here...

It's all down to the the back ground your dri coat is going onto. That is a very good link mate.

Back to the thread...

A mate of mine moved into a house and a bricked up doorway had been built on top of the carpet.

o yeh, forgot about the thread... :RpS_blushing:
window job years ago..
had a team on a job, we called em 'billy and johnny' didnt have a scooby...
tore a window out of a dormer... got the big gorilla bar in the jamb and gave it a big handful...
dormer cheeks being built from 3/4 ply, window frame being build from 3" square timber...
whats gonna give?

anyway, they come over to ask us how to rip the rest of the windows out cos theyve got the internal heads down, the reveals the bloody lot...

went round the back, looked up at this dormer and theyve tried to stick all the tiles (cheeks were hung tile, roof was pitched rosemaries) with friggin gun foam...

prolly looked ok(ish) till the stuff started expanding...

time i had a look all the tiles were sticking up at ridiculous angles foam everywhere...

never seen owt so silly in my life... :rolleyes)

seen gas pipes wrapped up in denzo tape (actually works quite well that)

old gaffer dug a gas pipe up out the ground with a 3ton mini digger, realised what it was and quick shoved it back in with the bucket... backfilled it... f'cked off...

next day im working next door and i can smell gas outside the back door...

turns gas off to house... still smell it...

traces it back to the manhole...

he's cracked the pipe, its got into the sewage system...

rings transco, they come and do a internal sleeve job on it...

havent been doing any digging have you?

'what us? nah mate, just doing a bit of plastering'...

got away with it too, didnt get charged a penny! :RpS_laugh:...

Here's the remains of a plasterboard that some Geordie gas fitters installed on the outside wall
