Evening All,
Just had it confirmed by Day Aggregates that since Mid January they no longer wash their "Plastering Sand" therefore it is now as useful as a chocolate teapot, which incidentally will probably crack less when dry rather than the clay shite being sold!!!!!
Rant Over!!!!

Well they can no longer sell it as plastering sand if it doesn't meet the correct criteria.

Change supplier.

If that was the case it would have 30yrs ago mate.
Looked into it a bit further last night and seems Environmentalists are moaning about the by-product of washing the sand and how to get rid of it??? My guess is its actually the cost to wash it in the first place. Wouldn't mind if I'd had the heads up!!

I rarely get any traditional s+c rendering jobs now the new ways the
Methods and bagged renders have took over,I used ocr last year for a small few jobs just to try it and I thought it was great stuff

There is probably a bit of truth in that, in that silt is considered a potentially hazardous material by the Environment Agency.

Times are a changing my friends, thanks for your comments, pre-bagged systems seem the future which make sense and involve profit over quality, less skill and so what if its f@%ked after a couple of years. Living in a world of quick fixes with no foresight. Too many brown envelopes flying around rather than conscience. Celotex still going strong Eh? Still fireproof apparently, take a look at its MP backers!!

Modern Render products and specs are a minefield, and hard work, and all necessary and efficient I'm pumping Render 5

stories up, and giving a 15 year guarantee,
let's see you come and do it with your Bella mixer and bucket.

Always love working with s&c, easy to change the mix to suit the backgrounds. I still get loads of s&c work so there is definately a demand for it. OCR is nice but ever tried scudding with it.

Is that the same for all aggregate suppliers?

What made you ask about it?

Sorry I've only just seen your reply. I asked because the sand delivered had so much clay in it when I felt it and rubbed my hands together. Instantly knew it was s**t (not cat s**t tho). Had already had issues with Jewsons who the client was using to supply
