Silicone render looks terrible especially at night

Renderer came back yesterday and told me if I wanted a proper finish I should have had it cement borded first!!
I mean how can you say that after doing such a bad job!
After further discussion he did say he would try and and come back and go over it on the walls where there are lights, to try and build it back up, but is that even possible??
He also said if we don't pay him for the job he has done (polite way of threatening) he has every right to come and take his job back! In other words pull it all down!!
We want to pay him but surely we have the right to a decent standard of workmanship??

Any comment would be grately appreciated as we are feeling bullied by this and is isn't a nice feeling.

He's talking s**t about boarding it first he clearly doesn't know what he's doing on the rendering and the job needs to be right enough to warrant payment doesn't it you are well within you rights to hold payment for it till its good enough

The guy who did the bad work is Go Plastering. He plastered a ceiling for us, and his plaster work is spot on. ...Unfortunately, his render work clearly not!

We Had to get it totally redone and used a company called Silk Render, to fix the mess that Go Plastering had left.

Here are the before and after pics..
