Colour matching render

Hi,
I have a 50s house with the orangey brown pebble dash finish. I've just had a loft conversion done and the new rendering on the conversion is not really a good match colourwise for the old.

The rest of the conversion is done to a good standard & the builder said it wouldn't be an exact match as its new. Do I need to just suck it up as nothing can be done now?

First picture is of neighbour's house with some original pebble dash and a good attempt at colour matching on the extension. Second pic is close up of render on my house.

Did the builder do the pebble-dash? Should have set and rubbed-up reveals first. Unless you do samples of render/stones to colour match its hit or miss.

Looks to me like the stones are just mixed in with the render rather than being thrown at it aswell, is this normal practice?

you will never get an exact colour match to an existing and weathered render.
sand pits change colours all the time and suppliers change their suppliers time to.time aswell.
even if you were to match a brick. years difference will always stand out

The stones haven’t been mixed in with the render - they have been dashed on. Some stones are dirty/dusty straight from a bag and need washed & sieved or they can look cat.

he probably would have had to have used red sand to give the colour, difficult to get a perfect match.
gravel, dash, shingle doesn't really come in different choice of colours.
