"Double plastering" by machine

So for whatever reason, I've found myself having bought a new flat in a country a long way away from the UK.

The way they sell flats here is without any furnishings at all, no electrics, no plumbing except the meters. The floors/ceiling are concrete and the stud walls are plasterboard with the structural walls concrete. These flats are in blocks up to around 30 floors.

We got some builders for quotes and they want to plaster it by machine. They say if it is to be painted it needs plastering once, then some kind of mesh applied (like our tape but wider?) across the whole wall then they apply a second coat of plaster.

In the UK, if I wanted a good job done I'd simply ask a plasterer to go directly over the PB and for the concrete the plasterer would know what to use (bonding or whatever) underneath. Maybe it wouldn't be perfectly laser line level, plumb and no waves but does anyone care?

So my question is are they taking the p*ss with this double layer of plaster with mesh inbetween? Especially on the PB all it needs surely is taped joints then a skim of multi finish? Anyone think of a reason why they'd recommend this sort of thing (they all do it that way here) apart from fleecing me for more work?

I can understand on the concrete

I don’t understand doing that on plasterboard

unless maybe they have different specifications where you are

Could it be if they're gonna bring the machine there to do the concrete walls they may as well spray all of them ?

And why the double layer with scrim (or whatever it is) inbetween ?

Is no one intrigued what country the op is in??

@rough what country is it??
I don't like the start of the thread
So for what ever reason I found myself in another country?
I once fell asleep on train to Leeds and woke up in York that was a surprise! Maybe he fell asleep on plane and woke up in Syria but was only going London to Birmingham.

It's probably just how it's done wherever you are different products different technologies and all that

I wouldn’t worry. Sounds like you’ll never see a crack! Rather belt n braces than a half arsed job
