It's defo s**t, not happy,

You think that could be the problem? Or f**k**g about with it while to wet? Combo of both? Going to just strip it back to basics mt from start to finish no flex or speedskim,

Any advice welcome mate
spot on pal keep it simple and uncomplicated fk the flexis off

@Dr pepper IMHO the biggest problem here is you.
Firstly you don't even know what standards apply to your own trade, you then berate your own work, even though it is being checked in an inappropriate manner and then you let a builder talk to you like you're a c**t.
This guy is after getting the work done for free, and I'll bet he does it time and time again.
Don't buckle, tell him your work meets industry standards and that you want your money.

Thanks for responses chaps(y)

Have ask him what it looks like it normal daylight sun out conditions, spot lights etc and he's said fine, but and I quote, I torch test everything tiling, painting, mitres, you not the only trade I'm not happy with".
So if the tiling is s**t does he get the tiler to take them off aswell ,what a prick

A builder tryed something with me couple of years ago job was off someone on forum! Said customer weren't happy with a ceiling I done he was trying to get money knocked off! I went round to the job to speak to the customer because it didn't add up, I said your not happy with the plastering she had no idea what I was talking about and said we was over the moon with the work you done! Bad builders out there professional liers most of um! He paid otherwise I was gonna drag him out of his house and kick f**k out of him in front of his wife and kids!

Must admit I'm not happy with the work, but have woken up with fresh head and do think he is being unreasonable with "torch test" crap as he has agreed thw work is fine under normal natural daylight an lighting conditions, have foolishly in a moment of weakness offered to come back for free to sort out, so I've pretty much lost all chance of getting any money out of him.

Lesson slearnt firstly try harder, keep it simple ditch flexi and speedskim, grow pair of b*ll***s and stand ground

No tell him that you've had time to think about the situation, that you'll meet him at the job and if it meets industry standards, not his b*ll***s, you'll expect paying.
Speedskims won't create a problem, assuming that you're only using them for flattening in.

"He does it with all the trades" - yeah, to knock them all down on price. Obviously does it a lot.
As Andy says, know your work standards - see/learn ref stated, he does not have a leg to stand on.
Do it as Andy says, Ok, you go back, in normal daylight, dab a bit of easifill anywhere obvious, tell him you've fixed it to the correct FIS standard. You're not interested in his torch business, if he didn't put the torch in the spec then feck off. Now pay or its small claims court and putting the word out locally.
If he calls your bluff, it ain't, do the court bit and text every local plasterer you know, cc the texts to him. - it isn't slander if it's true.

Shine your torch off your phone in the same way on plasterboard after asking him if it’s flat, it shows the texture of the paper up. Impossible to get it perfect, we have a trowel in our hands not a magic wand.

Did my bedroom few weeks back....for 23.5 hours a day it's fine...but for 30 mins a day in the wrong sunlight it looks like I put it on with a catapult....I just stay out the room during these times lol.

Thanks for responses chaps(y)

He’s obviously a c**t

Don't get going back to sort it for free your mugging yourself off even more,Essex Andy has gave you the best advice follow it up mate if he's a prick and still won't pay up then write it off as learning curve and never work for builders again

Many thanks for advice lads, means alot (y)

have since emailed him (as so there is a paper trail) stating the Fis spec sheet, ( attached a photo) which clearing states tolerances regarding lighting etc also spoke with a rep on phone at British gypsum and he also backed up that what he's doing is b*ll***s, and that centre of room or 2m away with light direct at wall is the gauge they use. Have also stated in email that if any of the work is below this standard then remedial filling will be use when and where, but as he has already said it looks fine and can't feel anything on walls in normal daylight conditions, which I'm goner have to try an get in a text from him as at minute conversations have taken place over phone.

Will keep you posted on his response.
All I know about him is that hes called Richard and delta construction is the firm, have tried company house but nothing comes up, the job was in Carshalton where he works based haven't a clue as this was the first job for him via a phone call from him.

As I've said prior I'm not happy with it and will absolutely strive to do better going forward. I'm nowhere near the best spread far from it, but I do take pride in my work and try to do my best on every job, hiccups like these do knock the confidence and does get to me bit more than some people, but as the saying goes every day is a school day mistakes will be made and your always learning in the world of plastering.

Thanks again people for your help and advice, have a good weekend and hopefully it comes home!:numberone:(y)

Always learn more from mistakes with plastering
Never learn enough to cope with the diversity of these one off customers , always waiting to catch you out , you've said your not happy which to me you count as a genuine bloke
Had a contractor last year try it on , immeadieatly contacted the site manager to check job was ok , asked me to go and plaster his own house lol
Threatened court , always more excuses , gets the court papers and pays up , thought I'd pay him back for the hassle and obvious experience in non payment ( only talking £400 )

There's an app that will record any calls with certain numbers. Might be handy to have on your phone.

Speedskim wouldn’t do that, you can still use that as it’s banging. Go back to using your mt to trowel up, that should help flatten off and fill those hollows. You can still use your flex trowels just use for the later stages.
Dont get me wrong there are blinding bit of kit, but think for the minute goner just go back to basics mt from start to finish, I've obviously got the timings wrong when using it (set to much) not pushing down lumps an bumps, same with flexi to early to late? Of course its not the tools it's the lemon behind them, but just think keep it simple an start again one trowel from start to finish

Mate take it from me nearly 30 years in game and a horrible c**t....

Its irrelevant what you used it would look just as bad if only used a trowel under high strength shallow artificial lighting whatever you used.

Nobody and i mean nobody on this forum work would look acceptable in the same situation.

Chin up mate
