Christ there's more cheap ass cowboys on this forum than I thought....all for the sake of just saving a few quid  :endesacuerdo:
Like I said, I use them but don't see the point. At the end of the day the customer pays the materials bill.
The guy doing these hmo's is f**k**g loaded, he's not a penny pincher at all. He must have 4000+ bathrooms in the properties he owns and he doesn't see a need for them either.

well you say you don't see the point mate but at the end of the day they don't make MR boards or any of the other boards for the fun of it they serve a purpose pal....some boards are better than others for specific applications.

I just don't get it mate on here sometimes

Is it me just being fkin pig-headed or what?

I spent best part of the last 20 years of my career retro-fitting sound proofing and I used sound proofing boards....why? because they're better than standard boards for the job and didn't cut corners.

I'm retired now as you know but maybe I worked at a time where integrity mattered in the trade or is it because I was a 100% private/domestic spread and not a site monkey (never worked on a site in my life) where it seems time and money matters more than integrity, quality and attention to detail?

It just seems to me nowadays mate especially when I see some of the crap on here that this trades integrity has had the bollox stripped out of it.......it's a shame.

You're getting very worked up about some plasterboard mate. There's more important things in life, and to call people cowboys for that is over the top.
If weight of tiles is the main issue then surely ask the plumber what weight of tile will be used and use cement board or moisture board if it's above the limit for normal board. Noones tiling above those weight limits though in standard little bathrooms

So just because there make something means it's better for the task? There's alot of money to be made by bring alot of different things out

the reason you'd want to use moisture resistant board is if moisture or water gets in behind the tiles or through the grout / silicone the board will rot, a moisture board or cement board won't, all you will have is a couple of tiles pop off and need repairing, with a normal skimming board if a couple of tiles pop off you'll need to rip off all the other tiles and replace the board aswell and re-tile the whole wall.

If ya say so. Got over 20k labour of work booked in by the end of august.

And I'm on the golf course tomorrow
So from now until end of Aug your pulling in £20k? Is this multiple sites I'm taking as in earning off a few lads you employ?

Yes I forgot there was a direct correlation between how long someone's on tpf and amount they earn...

If moisture or water gets behind the tiles, there is a full bed of tile adhesive not plasterboard.
Most water leaks in bathrooms/showers are from the plumbing, or movement around the shower area floor.
If I was going to give advise to anyone that is worried about rot, it would be strengthen the floor not the walls.

yeah should be full bed of adhesive behind tiles unless you're a dot n dabber plenty of chancers in tiling as well

tile adhesive is notched. you could put tiles on a white plasterboard, you might get away with it, but I don't reckon it is work of a good tradesman. imo.

much better to tile a wall that has been solid plastered.
or use proper boards.

plenty of blokes who won't be fussed about doing it.
