I have a small plastering company and I keep the lads who work for me in work all the time I get all the work I provide all materials and do all paperwork if they finish at 1 and the jobs done I still pay them the full days money what would you say is a reasonable amount of money to be making out of them a day
Just interested in what people think ta

If you run your own company you already know that, so let's us know what your cut is.

It has never been as hard to employ lads, paye as it is now, and I employ quite a few.
National insurance, pension contributions, holiday pay, bank holiday pay, paternity pay, employers insurance, maybe a works van, health and safety obligations, chas, training costs, delays on projects, weather etc etc, all that just to break even before you make a penny.

I charge out £170 per day I do alot for small builders so I give my lads £140 per day
If I charge anymore i won't get the jobs
Do you think this is fair

5 lads
Just getting ear ache of them saying they should be on more money which I understand every1 wants to earn as much as possible but not worth all the agro if u don't make anything for all the effort

Tbh they're right, self employed needs to be earning more than 140. The problem is the 170 you're charging is too low, if you can't charge more then its not a profitable business

Might have to tell the lads I'll try and charge more for jobs if I don't get no work then no work for them either

f**k them off apart from the most reliable one and have a happy time going to work.

At the moment you're making 150quid a day for sorting out work for 5 lads. Give them an extra tender each to make it 150 for them. Quote jobs at 250 a day, yes you'll lose a few but keep 3 of the best lads busy and make 300 a day with less stress.
