Tapit tape

I used @tapit beadfix tape on good Friday on a kitchen where 2 walls were completely bonded out and skimmed after the whole skimcoat had came off after removing tiles and the other walls just re-skimmed, the reveals around the back door I used bostik grit and although the tape worked in holding the bead on I found over a gritty surface it did struggle to completely adhere to the grit surface, over the window wall which was a nice flat surface the tape came into its own and held the bead on well with no problems, after letting the pva dry,in my opinion I wouldn't use it on pb as staples are quicker and cheaper,I wouldn't really use them over a surface you have used grit on although it worked for me it was really a 50/50 in that scenario,I think its worth to have a roll on the van as I think it is useful on reskims where the walls are flat as this tape will work and it's better than trying to knock in clouts or masonry nails and taking a chunk out the angle so I will deffo use it on reskims whenever possible as it does work in that case

get your breath back :coffe:

It'll be useful in some situations, especially on re-skims were the reveals are done in plaster only.

Nevermind all that; I wanna know when the 'lifetime supply of Tapit Tape '' winner is being announced!

Have the sponsors backed out, at the last minute?

Thanks @Stewie03, that's exactly what it designed for. cheers for the review mate.

So it's designed to not be used on plasterboard as theres a cheaper alternative and also not used on grits as it doesnt stick. Staples also go into old browning so the only surface its designed for is hard formed corners.....

I may have to put you on the payroll, the more you knock it the higher the sales.

You'd have to be earning money to do that lad. If that review video is anything to go by. Its s**t for plastering but you might be able to sell it to beauty salons. Might have to fill in the holes though

In all fairness it did stick to the grit I used, although it didn't fill me with much confidence as I thought it was touch and go with it over grit,I think it depends on how thick you put the grit on how much grit is along the reveal etc, but in terms of hard formed corners then yes I would use the the beadfix tape definitely

Why not scrim it on?

I did it as a test last week. Was absolutely fine.

Same s**t just different shaped holes and a fraction of the price. Who's the mug. Certainly not me

Seriously, though... I don't think I'd trust scrim to have strong enough adhesion to reliably hold beads firm, pre-plastering.

Not saying it's impossible, but seems a bit sketchy.

I usually stick in with skim , quickest method
Today I did two fireplaces with stop end around the wooden mantle and brick pillars ( 14 lengths ) , I thought of this tape and originally I posted contact adhesive and finally tested , works A1 , Staples are crap on PB stop ends would have done a video but it was dirty mix and go lol
