Hiya guys... Worked with another spread today, he insisted on laying on his first coat, running the speedskim over it, mixing up a fresh gauge and going straight ontop.... 5 mins Max between coats.. He insisted that it was 2 coat work.. Anyone else working like this?

P. S we were on day rate, not price.

You put 50sqm on in 5 minutes il Jack in now what you say makes no sense from the first stroke to the last stroke its been on wall more than 5 minutes and speed skim run over it and then mix up the timing your saying makes no sense

Did it look OK after finished? What's the problem if it didn't?

It's was about 20sm.. 5mins from last stroke of 1st coat to 1st coat of 2nd coat... Literally lay on, knock up fresh gauge, lay on again.

Everyone has there own method I suppose you pick up all sorts in a lifetime of Plastering but ultimately you find the way that works for you! Stick with that is my best advice (y)

Looked streaky tbh, he said it would dry out ok... No problem. Tbh I didn't skim it, was just wondering if anyone else did the same.
I think speedskim s**t , others get on ok with them, each to there own, as long as finish ok, that all that matters.. ?

I did a 25ish.metre lid on Thursday .As usual I had scaffold out. I did 2thirds ish. Had sandwich. Did the rest . Tidied up . Friday put up cove. Tomorrow got to paint it . And bring the belt sander in for the joint. That speedy thing is great .

Arguably, issues can <potentially> arise if, with both coats applied, you apply pressure too soon, if the first coat hasn't firmed up as much as anticipated, but an experienced spread would have a good handle on timings.

Was it a reskim, or onto fresh board?

Tell the geezer the only thing that should be streaky is bacon and not a plastered wall

Depends how much ya banging on i suppose say u lay a 3 bagger on by time you get to end ya pretty much ready from where you started to run speed skim over!
I rarely put more than three bags in my van let alone on a lid
I’m ready to start second coat when I finished first coat on half a bagger
