Customer has boarded and angle beaded the room and asked for me to tape and joint. I would have skimmed it but that's what they have asked for. Interested do any of you tape your beads with filler and paper tape or scrim tape or not at all I've seen people do all 3

No harm in putting scrim on the beads especially round doors and windows, would do that if I was skimming too.

it is quicker to skim the room. you need to sell yourself better.

Saddens me to see tape & jointing making inroads into the UK.

Soft as shite, won't last, worse finish, etc. (IMO)

Maybe it's just me, but I think the UK building industry should resist going over to T&J, but I suppose the likes of Persimmon will eagerly use the cheapest option they can find, and it'll gain momentum throughout the industry, here, just as it has in USA, Oz, Europe, etc.

I did a job for a joiner I know earlier last year, he'd built a large garden room and wanted it taped. I told him its quicker to skim, his reply was it didn't need skimmed, cos "it's just a place for me and my mates to get pissed.
So I did it and it took longer like I thought it would, it cost him more in the end cos the price had a "I hate taping" tax.
Thing is I would never agree to that with a domestic customer.

Tape and jointing has been the standard for new builds in Scotland for decades

Very funny. I'd skim it but it's what he wants and he wants to pay for it so that's up to him. Skim all the way tape and jointing is so americanised for me
