Another new trowel from NELA - PREMIUM ELITE

Members online

Just because it’s not “bent” or “forced” into one direction - in my op to prevent it going the wrong way, doesn’t mean it isn’t pre worn.

This would be our closest take on the Permashape. A pre worn, not a bent trowel. A true correctness on a trowel is based on its flatness, not the fact it’s forced the wrong way.

The way the steel is finished gives it’s pretty worn qualities

We have looked at shaping the trowels, however, based on 90% of feedback, guys wanted them flat. On the products we tested, and previously sold, there is zero continuity or consistency in the pre bent trowel, the variance is massive
I'm not sure what you mean by that first paragraph?
The way a Permashape trowel is shaped is exactly how a well used stainless trowel goes, minus the rounded corners.
Hopefully I'll get to see one of your new offerings before too long, I'm intrigued, but I'm not the sort to throw money at a trowel without being sure I'd have a use for it and without seeing it.
Can't say as I've found the Permashapes inconsistent thought, and I've had a fair few.
I must say that I like the fact that the 11in trowel is 5 inches wide.
Also thanks for replying to queries quickly.

f**k**g freeloading at its finest

It feels sexy as f**k tbh the blade is not permashaped but if that's what people want all they need to do is push down on all four corners one at a time and it creates the curved shape I do it with all trowels for skimming usually if they are flat

It is very light, a few runs on the on a chisel block with oil and it will break in no problem
Can you hook your index finger under the middle of handle and take a pic so we can judge the balance?

He's f**k**g shameless with it.

Hes that bad hes non offensive...ive got a lad that works with us that has single handedley beg stole and borrowed a full plasterers kit off me over the years..hes that bad i found myself buying him a new paddle the other day for a mixer i actualy gave him in screwfix as he was moaning it was to big.

Mine has come bang flat, and corners are square - sharp square!

Flexibility wise, it doesn't feel too much more flexible than the premiums, being that bit wider though - it does feel there is a bit more give towards the edge.

I'll compare side by side tomorrow.

So it's absolutely nothing like a Permashape? What the f**k are P1SS talking about then?

I can only think, two ways:

1 ; if it keeps its shape - permashspe

2 ; wider like the permashapes, where you can load up a smidge more for a longer pull
Well the last thing I want is a perfectly flat trowel that leaves more lines in the gear when I'm applying it. I want a trowel that makes my life easier, not bloody harder.

We haven't said its a Permashape. We have said it is our closest rival to the Permashape.

New steel - higher quality, new manufacturing process, new grinding, we are referring to its performance and speed of breaking in.

Some are already coming back to us saying they are using it out of the box and it's great

So just for absolute clarity;
It isn't treated to retain its shape like a Permashape?
It is flat, meaning that it'll need wearing in if you don't want to leave heavy lines in the gear at the time of application? Unlike a Permashape.
Assuming I'm right with the above this new offering is more comparable to a standard MT stainless steel trowel? Nothing wrong with that, they're good trowels. I used to use them before realising that the Permashape were just a better version of them.
I'm definitely not trying to knock your product, but want to know exactly what's on offer. I'm sure others here are the same.

There isn't a treatment for a trowel to retain its shape. It can be forced into a certain direction as we can see with one style, however, it can still go the other way in some cases.

I'm struggling to get my point across here I think.

It is Pre-worn, not bent. Majority of trowels on the market are offered as pre-worn, or good to use out the box, in reality, every single one requires more breaking in order to get to its preferred condition - alot of this is down to the plasterer. Everyone applies different forces or pressures, or has different techniques - your trowel wont be the same as someone else's for example. Thats exactly my take on a Permashape. It is force fed into a direction to prevent it going the wrong way. If you get 10 x 14" side by side, the 'bend' will be different on everyone of them. At least with the NELA you create the shape required through use - many are using it directly out of the box, without any issues.
