Nela black edition

I’ve one in the back of my van..used it once, free to a good home..or a bad broken one lol

I think they are poo,but anyone who wants a go can have it..sitting there collecting dust
I'm same, used it once..Still on my nela mark 11 bought this about a year and bit ago and thought it was crap so havnt used since,my nela mark 11 I could use straight of the box, with this it makes a horrible scratchy noise when trowelling

Exactly the same mate,I think is that the one after the troubles with the back coming away, either way ..I’m still using that one..and other one going to waste..yeah,genuine..anyone can have it tbf

The mess on the wall can also be down to timing, its stiffer than previous versions so youll have to hit it at a different time.

Wet and dry will sharpen the edge quicker for you
What’s the point in having a trowel you can only use on certain times of a wall? Sounds like hard work to me! Bit disappointed in mine used it straight out of the box made a right mess... sanded it down and still made a mess didn’t have this problem with the REFINA flexi and that’s probably a thicker blade. £50 I’ll never get back

To be honest, we haven't had this issue raised until I have seen it on here.

NELA offer various blade thicknesses and widths - giving you the choice.

In regards to your question: "What’s the point in having a trowel you can only use on certain times of a wall?" Well, that's exactly the same for all Flexi trowels, unless you're laying on with it which you're not meant to do.

When I refer to hitting it at a different time, you may be required to trowel it sooner or later.

Anyone got one of these?
Just got one and it's just ripping All the skim off the walls. Tried it at different stages and not getting great results, I know it needs breaking in but I can't break it in because it just makes a mess! Don't think you can beat the ox for polishing to be honest.

Worth noting - NELA make the OX....

If you're used to that, then the NELAFLEX GOLD would be a better option.

I have mediflex and have same problems.had an oilstone on it and it still tears a bit even tho not new. The s*p*r*lex on the other hand is fine

This is a great example. Both different flex trowels, both different thicknesses - therefore the timing will be different

I understand that only use my flexis for the last couple of trowels but what I’m saying is the black edition isn’t anywhere near usable at any stage

Understand your feedback and will look at it, as said, it isn't something I have heard of before and they are selling daily with great feedback.

I'm same,I bought this thinking it was same as gold edition as in a s*p*r*lex, thats a cracking trowel has it like 5 odd years and its still going strong, bought this black edition as im not sure how long gold has got left, used it once and its sat understands 4 last year as it was a horrible experience in trying to finish with it,so with it being a thicker blade am I meant to go over it sooner or later than I would with the mark 2?

I'm working on mine too. 20200930_162658.jpg

And on a serious note this is why education should be about discovering through free expression and exploration. The old style of learning is obsolete, a teacher can no longer teach new and exciting things because kids can just google what they are interested in and the net has made learning facts and figures by way of a teacher or parent redundant.
Schools should teach healthy lifestyles, nature, self expression through the arts or sport and get rid of outdated
methods of parrot fashion learning of nonsense that was devised for a time that no longer exists.

I've not owned a Nela trowel but P1 mentioned the following:

NELAFLEX MKII Gold Edition = 0.3mm blade with a width of 4.3"
MediFLEX = 0.4mm blade and a width of 4.9"
Black Edition = 0.4mm blade with a total width of 4.72"

(y)
So begs the q whats the difference between medi and black edition

I vaguely recall some talk about a different grade of steel being used in the Black edition, but don't quote me on that.

I'd hazard a guess that they probably slightly changed the length and/or width of the upper 'spine' layer, to refine the stiffness of the trowel (and of course you can see that the main blade is narrower overall, which will increase stiffness).

I'm happy with my Refina.

So..... When the hell are you meant to use it? Was a complete waste of £50 to be honest because I'm not doing all that sanding down s**t, shouldn't have to it should be good out the box
