Am drylining a kitchen and have a lot of leftover soundboard from the ceiling and not enough 12.5mm. The walls are done in a textured masonry paint. Will thistle drywall adhesive be strong enough to hold the much heavier boards?

No harm to add mchanical fixings too

Yeah, but I'd blue grit on paint to be safe, but if textured paint, pva properly do.
 
what do you use when fixing boards, insulated boards to meet fire regs?
Tape?
