Cheap Mixer

Always enthusiastic and a great character. Usually found pulling out a chub on some little tributary on a bit of cheese.
Yes he was certainly enthusiastic. Well until the otters killed the fish in his own lake. Broke his heart and he emigrated to Thailand to run a fishery. I met him several times.

I fished with him on the Ouse for barbel.

Him, stef horak and Ray walton.

Stef would throw rocks into the streamer weed to get the barbel out ;D

It’s John Wilson that I believe

I've never been an angler, but I used to watch him, occasionally, at 6-ish in the morning, on Quest. I have no interest in actually going fishing, but I still used to enjoy watching JW's program, purely because he was a likeable chap, with a very laid-back vibe to him and his program. As others have said, his enthusiasm shone through.

For someone like me, with no interest or inclination towards fishing, it must say something about JW's character that I remember his name and his program, and was content to watch him, when I wouldn't have bothered watching anyone else fishing (except maybe Jeremy Wade's intriguing 'River Monsters').

Probably won't last long, but the crazy thing is that it has a 3 yr warranty, so it's still maybe worth a punt, as a standby (230v) unit.

Ahh 3 years warranty you say. However should you need to return it they will open it up and see it’s been used for plastering and very likely void the warranty. The £50 mixer that B&Q sell comes with a warranty but I’ve heard from the manager that a plasterer tried to claim a new one but the manufacturer wouldn’t honour the warranty because it had been used for plastering.
