Hall & stairs

Well I would consider myself very fortunate if you can refuse jobs because a rad is left on.
Its up to customer, you can only advise them to take it off.
I can't take pride in a job skimming. Each to their own. As I say though I just say on the quote the radiator needs to be off. Father in law's a plumber so they tend to use him

Well that does help nath, keeping it in the family etc,but I'm sorry id have to disagree with this one,I always say I'd advise taking the rad off as its a better job, next question from them is or can you take it off then il tell them for insurances purposes I cant touch the rad so I tell them you can either sort or I can and it will cost you about £50 and the next thing out of they mouth is or just go around it,why should I care if they don't.when I did my last house up many moons ago it cost me about £180 for all my rads to come off in my house and I was willing to pay, some aint

You're laughing because a plasterer tells the customer the radiator has to come off to plaster the wall? Not at the Muppet skimming up to wallpaper.
Quality of spreads on this forum...
Crack on you crackpot :ROFLMAO: let them make the call to take it off or not, some do some dont.
Do you get them to take all the skirting and facings off too?..oh and the light switches and sockets need to be disconnected

Ffs just tell em to go down side of shed @cockney

Seriously you all good enough to stand a side while house owner goes to their own bog .

I do the same donzo,I offer them the chance,I tell a plumber will charge about £25 to whack off then £25 to put back on,i aint touching a radiator and if they not willing to pay that I don't lose sleep over it.wouldnt Cross my mind to turn down a job because a rad is left on hahaha this place cracks me up
Exactly . If valves f**k*d or they get a leak it becomes your problem

Most people do not have the luxury to bin a job because they won't take a rad off.
Especially in this recession.

I always ask to remove , part of the service , it doesn't cost em more than half hour labour off and on
Some it isn't necessary from position but walking up a staircase your looking behind the radiator

In an ideal world yes...always say to them about taking them off but its their house ,their call.
Some radiators ive seen on jobs are that old too valves don't shut, covered in paint etc...so the half hour labour can turn into a nightmare for a plumber.
Certainly wouldn't be knocking back a job because a radiator is still on the wall

Yep had my fun of one's not shutting off totally , put a cup under , don't do price on overskim so I warn them of possibly replacing valves , easier money than spreading lol

Nope just the radiators. Some do some don't? No all do if you say it has to come off ya crackpot

said it before not just a question of removing and re fitting the rad...you can struggle to get seal on old valves and if you need new valves you need to know how to drain system...fit valves and solder pipework if necessary if the copper needs chopping back. Then you have to fill system bleed all valves and possibly re balnce heating system ..
If all goes well the cus will think they own your arse for 12 months for all heating and boiler probs.

Beggers belief how some just think its a case of popping it off then back on again, theres so much that could go wrong and why on earth would I care about going around a rad wen they can't be arsed shelling out £40-£50

I dont mind taking sockets and light switches off, and putting them back on but that's as far as I go, a customer years back wanted there bedroom reskimmed told me he was taking the rad off I noticed the trv had snapped so was just a pin I told him to cap it afterwards incase he hadn't shut the valve off properly low and behold a couple of days later he rings me to postpone the job as it leaked and damaged his living room ceiling aswell so he ended up getting a plumber out in the end anyway won't touch anything to do with plumbing

Plumbers problem not mine

Every day? How long it take to do a hall stairs and landing?! Price in a roll or 2 and use dustsheets anyway is the smart man's way
Half an hour? Do it once and it stays down till the jobs finished. Carpet stays spotless. Neither the customer or you are going to trip and break a bone. Most of all you look professional. No brainer really on this day and age.
