Plasterers only to buy plaster campaign

Its depressing, I had to drive nearly an hour AGAIN to get 10 bags, when I got there as pictures above, everyone filling their cars with multifinish. I really don't understand that. Fair enough you diyer but do you really need all of 10 bags to do boiler boxing ? f**k**g insane, I'm really starting to be fed up with it all.

Got told today that Johnstone's paints demand has increased by double they are now trying to produce 40 million gallons per month because of the huge increase of DIY work over this coronavirus, they legally bound to contracts with DIY shops so have to fulfill their contract otherwise get fined,
They're not getting deliveries into their own stores went there this morning more or less ran out

It’s a piss take by now B&Q, wickes policies should have been changed by now as they know what’s going on.
Don’t know about you but I’ve not and don’t know of any other plasterers buying or being supplied by costumers pay £20 a bag.
How is this gear being stored etc it’ll be inconsistent to work with, half the adverts pictures show in directly on the ground. These people have no idea.

My local Jewsons told me the day before yesterday that they're getting a steady supply of finish in now and plenty of board. Now our loyalty is being repaid.
Good news s for you mate but there’s plenty including myself and at least ten guys I personally know that can’t from our merchants, also say if travis was our loyalty branch don’t forget a lot just closed down so it’s hard to start a loyalty branch now which leaves some spreads ok but absolutely loads plaster less

I thought with your BG brown nosing that you'd have been well looked after mate.
Make a few phone calls to the right people mate.

Plaster in wickes in annerley today , got wiped out before I got there , they had some hidden away , they gave me 5 , others got 10 or 15 . Saw cars pulling up ,3/4 people rushing in with trolleys desperate for it ,IC1’s sad really what people need to do for a bit of skim to get their jobs done

Mate this will effect all of us as sole traders , since cov that’s one thing o noticed is a lot of folks only care about number one

They're just not letting you have any?
My local merchants who I use for everything are giving me dates for supplies
Been looking at the Wickes site in between sets today as I was told it was coming in today.,it never made it to the website and three pallets gone in the space of an hour as I called in on the way home,I was told they won’t be having any in for a few months.
Maybe BG are going to be supplying merchants only and have cottoned on with this profitering.
Let’s hope so.

After this plaster should not be sold in diy places again.ever..if diy nut jobs want a bag there should be made to go to a builders yard.only possible problem would be builder yards upping prices

@Vincey they had 12 pallets in wickes Sutton in ashfield branch today, might be worth a drive....also I got 10-15 bags of carlite you can have if your struggling.
Thanks for the offer i don’t need any skim atm , the point is to stop this profiteering saga in a time where we are supposed to be helping each other,I hope this stocking issue gets resolved soon but tbh knowing the stats and these scumbags carrying on it might not get sorted all year

Please don't blame DIY'ers for this, I've been happily waiting for a few months now for multi as I'm well aware it's not my livelihood . There is no way I'm putting money in the pockets of profiteers reselling marked up, I'll wait as long as it takes to get it at standard price. To give Travis Perkins their credit when I saw a BG truck outside I phoned to ask about stock and the first question was do I have an account, I think they are making an effort to look after their regulars. What makes me angry is I think we'll see lots wasted as it goes off unsold in the hands of profiteers and then dumped. I hope the councils charge people when they try to dispose of it at household waste sites. Maybe if DIY stores were forced to take some responsibility for 'duty of care' of punters turning up in a car they could prevent purchase of over say 250kg materials unless they have a commercial vehicle. I totally agree something needs to be done but I can't sign as I wouldn't be able to buy any myself then, unless I find a way to pass myself off as a plasterer, but then if I can do that anyone can including the profiteers. How would the scheme work, ask for a CSCS card for a plastering discipline, or C&G certs, company registration, look the van over ??

I’m afraid as long as the ****’s are taking what they can out of the DIY stores then in certain areas it won’t stop. It’s self perpetuating.
