It's an utter piss take it true mind, you can't do your weekly shop and pay them 20% less because we're in a recession.
Fully agree. Who's to say they even charging less for a house. If its true its greedy contractors already at there f**k**g work.

Brickies was on to good of a screw on their rates anyway, surely plastering site rates can’t go any lower. They’ve not gone up in the last 20 year.
I know over Here it's basically backTo 2008 wages, slightly more maybe. Brickies were getting it good, but to take 15 percent off like that is mental. It could be a load of ballix though

Won’t be b*ll***s, storm is coming. That will be the start, companies will start posting shite like that up to get the ball rolling with their dirty work, soften the blow before they get dragged into the office.

You reckon we are guna have a recession like never b4 hector :baba:
yes pl, joking aside take care my freind you and your family, seriously listen to me and anybody else on this forum,i know we we have our banter/abuse etcetc ,.......but please please look after yourselves and your families,.....this has not even started yet ,i say again this has not even started yet ,take care all

And banks won't lend any money. If banks were to keep lending ppl then the arse wouldn't fall out it. But next you know the banks will be hand in cap looking bail outs, not giving ppl loans, and still paying themselves huge bonuses no doubt. There is still a housing shortage so theoretically the demand is still there
Banks already stopped 5% mortgages got to put 40% down now, and buy to let 60%, sites down my way have stopped building private’s only h a’s so not looking great

End of day ritch it's going to be f**k*d for 2-3 years then we will forget this even happened, that's my view I'm taking and standing by.got to think positive in these situations or your head will get mashed

Anyone who doesn't think we've got the biggest recession in our lifetimes is absolutely deluded. People losing jobs by the 10s of thousands, whole sectors are completely f**k*d. Unemployment is going to go through the roof

shut the economy down for months

your welcome

I agree ,

let's not forget there's an awful lot of the population that don't need a job , made a lot of money over the years , many from the great lady Mrs T letting everyone on the property boom
Customer of mine just paid £1m for a pub/ hotel to renovate , just spare cash lol

Always work in the private sector if people don't move they revamp or extend , there's probably another 20 years of flattening artex to be had lol

Don't panic Mr Mannering
Mr who?

Well at least we will know one thing lads those that can afford to have work done can afford to pay decent rates...so I won't be dropping in fact I've added a COVID allowance of 15% to my prices (y) for additional hassle getting materials...click and collecting...the new f**k my b**hole normal? What a load of b*ll***s? Who came up with this 'the new normal' f**king brainwashed c**ts

Nothing learnt from Covid then...the big boys still treating us like sh*te on the bottom of their shoe...

I did a few jobs on site never again...the main people I get trying to knock me on domestic is builders and I just tell them to f**k off to their faces.

the last thing i would be putting my money into would be a pub/hotel,............pubs and hotels need the max ammount of people in just to break even,........now there will be less people going into pubs/hotels but there costs staff wages/electric/gas/buisness rates etc etc will still remain the same ,how can they possibly remain in buisness/make a profit ,when costs remain the same and indeed rise ,but with a lot less customers coming through the doors, does not make financial sense
Pubs and hotels should be getting dirt cheap now and no one knows for sure the future.
It seems a reasonable bet that if covid is managed well and contained or eradicated then it could be an astute investment.

Possibly, maybe?

Don't think you understand supply and demand

Seen that, they asking new buyers for unrealistic deposits etc it'll be the banks cause this one again, ironically operating differently than the last one they caused..... By being too conservative, whereas last one they were too lax and threw money at ppl. No happy medium lol

I think the guys hector, that dont believe you need to wake up.they dont want to believe you and insult you banter or not.
Sites will contract, mortgages at 5% are all drying up, fact
They borrowed double this month economists predicted
Site prices will go down considerably, already started,
Even the chancellor said whats coming we have never seen in 300 years.
Economist project 2% to 30% drop in house prices

Guys that are decent should always have work,,my phone is going mad with enquiries. Until furlough finishes you wont see proper picture, businesses are saying they cannot meet costs if working at 25 -50%. No option but to take on more debt or close.

Hopefully it will be a sharp then quick bounce, though the debt might take our lifetime to re pay.

Our new method is put on,lay in with same gear, speedskim twice, medi flex and done..could not care less as got nowt to prove and finish is still better than I'm seeing from others lol..make sure its flat and sharp angles, bang I'm done..my wage ain't going down that much only way it's going down is by having more time off, when I'm at work its guna be roughly same, tbh on our own work the prices wont drop as the builders wont do it it's just the contractors when we jump on there jobs in between

hertz car hire just filed for bankruptcy today in america,as i say nothing to joke about

Was watching something on sky news the other day basically saying the death of High Streets has now probably been brought forward by about 5 years as a result of this, cos people who would never of dreamt of shopping on line have been buying by the van load so to speak. As some have already said a lot of people have also realised they can work from home without to much drama so, business travel will probably drop considerably.
Tbh I'm more concerned about what government trade deals ect have been getting sorted behind the smoke screen of all this and, have serious suspicions that some of the handling by government of covid was based on political issues rather than public health in regard to working with the E U and, I say the latter as someone who voted leave.
