Thistle Durafinish

Hi folks,
Just wondering if anyone has used Thistle Durafinish lately or in the past and what it is like to work with compared to multi or Board finish. A local Builder has asked me to quote for Skimming a new house and Durafinish is on the spec for all the walls. Also been quoted £17 a bag including VAT not sure if that is good or not.
Thanks in advance

That’s correct mate you’ll struggle to buy it cheaper, lovely gear just don’t take on more than you can handle in hits , any lines in first coat will be hard to trowel out at finishing stage

Hi mate I’ve just finished a 10k m2 job on a school using it for the first time. Had some tips from @Vincey. Basically don’t panic and it’s no different to multi or anything else, lays on really thin and goes for miles. Says 10m2 a bag but I was laying on 25 m2 with a bag and half first coat, speed skim first coat get all lines out and let It pick up, nice tight second coat, flatten then few cross trowels, people on here said don’t use much water to trowel up as would tear but I never experienced that personally, teared more with out water really

Thanks for the advice guys, appreciate it. Yes I was panicking a bit when I saw it on the spec as I've never used it before and it is roughly a 13k job so I didn't want to turn it down!!!

Thanks for the helpful info

Yes mate you got to let it stand for 5 and re knock, I used a plastic trowel for last cross over which seemed to get a nice finish , there’s no need to panic, if anything it trowels up nicer then multi, just don’t put it on too thick and push it out nice and flat half a MM thick, each coat.

I was using the time waiting to re knock to put a tight one over all the scrim joints.

Key is defo don’t panic , when first used it done some 10m2 walls to get feel for it and by end me and another spread where chucking 25m2 hits on,

Here’s some pics of some jumbo walls we did which were 60 m2 flanks.

Nice work.I bet you were glad you didn't have to start on that one I was planning on starting in a Hallway or vestibule to get a feel for it as some of the walls are 12mx 2.6.
Did you use paper tape or scrim on the
joints?

We had scrim but the boards were feather edge so were filling them up flush whilst waiting for the gear to pick up.
