a rare breed

Never . No one to pva the blocks. Lol.
I left school with no clue what I wanted to do and still have no idea but it defo wasn't plastering. Stuck withnit now so just carry on
I will come to your next dabbing job and pull all the boards off with my bare hands!

Last firm I subbed to had a couple of lads. One jacked it in to work in a fast food takeaway and the other lad is still going. The problem is the appalling treatment of the apprentices just treating them as cheap labourers but not teaching them anything apart from a bit of skimming. It took me at least five years after my apprenticeship to become confident in different aspects of the trade other than how to skim and most of it was self taught by having a go. The actual apprenticeship I did was very poor and the college course was a total joke. And that’s why lads can't be arsed with it.

Apprentices always get a bit of s**t, I served my time with a local builder's and in first year you were treated like a labourer filling skips, stripping roofs, handballing materials. Going to college was a nice wee break I think it was 4/6 week blocks in the year. It wasn't till my 2nd year that it was mostly plastering.

If apprenticeships was the only route to trade
There would be no £300 a room overskims anymore
