My old man bought a new van and today iv lined it out with grp fibreglass
I did the course a few weeks ago, this is obviously a system designed for roofs but works brilliant in the back of the van, it’s now waterproof, impact resistant, seamless and hard wearing
If anyone local to Doncaster wants a quote for yours doing let me know

fantastic job, i used to build fibreglass boats twenty years ago.
i have done a couple of roofs and its a lot cheaper now.
i still have nearly a full roll of chopped strand mat in my shed.

Nice job.

I suppose it would be a little slippy, the surface is rough though so not too bad, saying that I don’t tend to run around in the back of the van so I don’t see why it matters

Probably means tools sliding about etc, but it’s no different with ply. Most people put some racking etc in anyway

Did a boat years ago... well, helped a mate's uncle.

So far as I remember, we topcoated, sprinkled some fancy sand over it and topcoated again.funnily enough, I've done exactly that with floor paint today.

You can get an aggregate you throw on as you roll on the top coat, this is for if you tile over the top of it to provide a key

A grip system on the floor and that’s a good sell Tom. Nice little sideline.
I used to do a lot of resin work but I’m allergic to it now. Can’t go near it.

We made a f**k**g killing doing roofs during the boom. Mate was the only installer on IOM of a particular type of system and we had a tame architect - topseal I think it was called.

Architect specified topseal, customer rang us, we put in a price that just about beat getting anyone over to the island and we laughed all the way to the Leeds.

You get about don’t you Steve. Are you on the run?

Looks good. I have done quite a bit of fibreglassi g myself... you tend to get quite a bit of experience when you crash fibreglass bodied kit cars often

I had a vx220 for a bit, I was scared to death someone would boot my bumpers off while it was on the drive lol

Haha yeah I k now a few people who have lotus Elise and they drive them like tarts because they are scared of crashing :)

With the kit car if you start worrying about the crashing then you would not bother :)

I never dove it like a tart, I did loads of track days in it, I was always just scared of someone getting jealous and sticking the boot in it

Yeah not done a track day in the buggy yet... I am ok with crashing but on a track day i will take someone out....

The buggy is short wheelbase so when it is controllable it is ace but sideways is fun but my god when it snaps you are doomed....

Always preferred the vx220 look so damn good

My bad, Sorry, thread closed!!!

Could have done with this recently. Left my van with my dad when I went away for his use. He was going to make a makeshift roof rack. Then didn’t but loosened the brackets on the roof. Forgot about it. Anyway they twisted off in motion. I didn’t know anything about it until my van flooded in the rain! I’ve. I e botched it with sealant n s**t. Seems to be holding!
