DIY POWDERCOATING

Evening all.

As you all know I dabble with cars and bikes and i have been eying up a powder coating system for a while.

In may I finally decided to give it a go.... my God it is easy and the results are pretty damn good.

First thing I coated was a piece of tube that had surface rust and I did not clean it up just lashed the powder on and cooked it...

Came out pretty good

And then decided to have a go on some aluminium chequer plate...

I have been making bee hives up like a mad man recently as well as stripping a car and building another kit car and obviously plastering and doing daddy day care...

@Danny I haven't read the whole thread so please forgive me these questions if they've already been answered.
Is there a limit on the size of items that can be done?
Can this stuff be applied over galvanizing?
Is it piss easy to do?
How much does it cost to buy the setup?
I'm planning on buying an aeration windmill for the Pool and would quite like the blades powder coated in green, the suppliers charge mental money for this.
I may just slop some paint about.

Hiya

Ok it cost about £200 to get set up. It's called electrostatic magic.

I bought this infrared heater off Ebay for £60...

From what I gather if the part you are coating is too big then as one part of it cures you can move the heater about...

The powder costs about £6 and covers 4m2

You will need an air compressor... mine is set to the lowest setting....

It is soooooo easy it was comical..

I will be powder coating a tow hitch lock on Friday I think as mine is rotten
