Hairline crack on stop bead.

Hi all, I need some advice please.
I recently skim a stud wall, and a hairline crack has appeared on the very edge of a stopbead I clout nailed on ( stud wall had a slight angled to it.) It starts about 60cm up from floor and runs about a meter high. The customer says it's my fault in a way so I return and applied some easyfill into the airline crack. He left it for a week but it's re appeared.

Could this be movement or shrinkage.
I'm trying to explain to the customer.

slightest knock on a skim stop beads they move...scrim it as zombie says
but also tell the person who moaned if they knock it again its tuff titty.

I have set with 2 pack filler as dries rock hard and in under 15mins so no hold ups.. See Here...... Seems the stop beads get caught at the bottom and off they pop. Bit of 2 pack especially at the bottom seems to work great to hold them firm. Grip fill is good to but takes to long to dry I find...

2 pack is good but biggy was the man

.............:rayos:

OK assuming such an issue is the result of not scrimming properly, what is the best way to rescue the situation? Is running silicon along the crack best followed by over painting? Cheers

If scrim has been put around the angle under the bead then that's as much as you should have to do.
You don't have to be putting scrim over the bead.
If something is built necessitating the use of a one sided bead then it's always likely to crack as the timber shrinks under the board.

Ditto. Keep a big 5 litre tub of bodyfiller in the van, use it for all sorts. Sticks like S2B, sets in no time, easy to sand, come away from the job high as a kite:sorprendido3:

I don't tend to scrim beads unless I can see there is a potential problem (though I'm now starting to wonder if I should) and can't recall such problems. Sounds like an underlying problem with the wall.

Are we talking about hairline or can you get an echo when you shout into it?

you can fill it with easi fill and see how it goes but it will always be a weak point :D if the crack keeps coming then use decorators caulk and that should sort that out

Always a chance it will crack, same asjoins on plasterboard. It's life, although it's written at the bottom of my quote that it's a possibility to cover my arse

he is defaintaly a double glazing salesman
This tape would be much quicker at holding the windows than screws! It's going to revolutionise all trades. Cement for bricks? Just use double sided holy tape! Building a stud wall? secure it with this s**t.
