Bauwer Light and Finish

Hoping some Bauwer proficient chaps can help.... Just finished my first effort at rendering and it wasn't normal! Used Bauwer Light nearly 100mm thick (3 x 30mm ish passes) to insulate solid slate external walls.. I'm Pleased with how it went... Just now ready to apply the 1st coat of Bauwer finish over mesh. How quick do i need to be laying this up? will i have have to be real quick or can I take some time getting it right? (being a novice means slow). I know you need to wet the wall really well first but this stuff seriously sucks the moisture back so i am a bit feared of it going off before iv'e got it on. I will be getting a plasterer mate to apply the finish coat as i am not confident. Any tips appreciated!

@theclemo and @vfr12 are the only guys I know who used complete system with the final coat too and mesh
I’d hold off applying until they have posted recommendations mate

The finish is not really a finish on it if u ask me. Its only for bedding the mesh in to. I'd use a breathable skim to finish it.

Cheers for the reply. It went on great. Needed very wet walls. Very easy as the mesh evens it all out.. And yes I agree it's not really a finish coat. Going to get a pro in to do the breathable finish. There are a couple of options I've seen. It's a bit of a faff this system and not cheap but really suited my solid walled slate house.

Agree with Clemo vfr hasn’t been on for a while but he did say to me he’d used vimark gb1 as his finish coat on top of mesh coat described

I have an old Cotswold stone wall in my property, we used Bauwer Light (Meshed) topped with Bauwer finish, again meshed. The wall was finished with GB1, I advise leaving the wall for at least a week before GB1 to ensure it’s fully dry. I know of guys who have topped too soon and it’s popped off.

Wait till fully dry. Get kanuf airless plaster put it on let the Frist coat dry for a day then do a 2ad coat leave it for a day. Then sand it. No need for a pro.

Theclemo putting plasterers out of work since today.
