What’s sticking out of my plaster?

I’ve just had my porch plastered, finish was great until the rain has started to get in through old rendering and is now leaking down between the plaster and brick in my porch.
Now it seems as though the plaster is wearing away, (not sure if that’s possible?) but this thread looking thing has appeared and is firmly embedded in there!
I’ve seen plastering being done a few times and can’t think what this could be? I even sent this picture to the plasterer who said he can’t see what I’m talking about and doesn’t know what it could be/what I mean.

Anyone know what this might be? Is there a step with a netting of some sort that could have been done?

Thanks in advance.

fook off it's obviously the labs swan vesta he swept up off the floor with the rest of the s**t then chucked it in the mix

Better than cat s**t....nothing worse than cat s**t in the sand. It doesn't dissolve in the mixer like you'd hope so you get cement that's a bit browner. Oh no....BFO brown streak up the wall. Gotta carve it out and start again.

Oooook then. Well this was fun.
Thanks to those with relevant/none-p*ss-take comments.

@JessThePlasterer Thanks for this And the plasterer himself was a t*t, and his finish around edges was messy, you’re right.
My point (to the others) of saying “finish was great” (‘great’ to a none tradesperson) was more along the lines of it wasn’t covered with the marks and salt you can see on the plaster..... that’s from rain, and has continued to get worse with the more water damage. Not calling the edges around my door ‘great’ plus that’s neat compared to how he left it.

@John j its not silicone, even a novice like me knows what that is lol. It’s soft in the sense you can move it, only the bit sticking out though, the rest is well and truly stuck in the plaster, which is why I wondered if some plasterers use some sort of netting/mesh that may have thread-like ends. But the actual texture of the ‘thread’ is rough.

Know what the problem with that job is? Your tapwater.

Presume he didn't bring his own water, right?

Aerated water. plays havoc with all plastering.

As we used to say in the army....fizzy water. f**k you up every time. Just ask @lurpak.

Kidding me aren’t you? I had to go and get him PVA along with every thing else. I was surprised he brought his own bucket.
