How many bags a day

Nothing wrong with 3 sets
Always done 3 hits back in day in a gang or me and another spread but these days I'm domestic so different way to work plus with sites and way they are now can't start til 8 cut off at 4 it's hard to get the 3 sets in I remember back 12-15 years ago we would turn up at 6.30-6.45 open up gate with scaffold spanner and go in and start and work late if we wanted but now it's to hard with all the health and safety

I.d slash me wrists if I had to do that much . Don't even think I could do that much
I dont look at it like that we go into a new plot and can tell how many bags it needs sometimes the last hit in a plot is only 3 bags

Not really mate used to do more we mix 4 and load out two spot boards then two like piss while we are putting first coat on the other two are just right for second by the time we use them do it like that i can get 3 hits in by 2.30 latest
Defo don't miss the site work reading this I was like this everyday for 8 years fair play to you know for doing it I had good speed back when I was doing it but now I've defo lost a bit of it

In some ways I miss the days we was in a gang knew what we was gonna do and go for it once unit nearly finished one would go into other unit and start beading scrimming up loading out sometimes we had two units on go at once but when recession hit it went well down hill and i sort of drifted into domestic and that's where I have stayed don't miss the arguments over water and power though

Know them never worked for them
I was Simon labourer when he first started out alone there was 5 of us now he got over 100 blokes and don't go on trowel now I couldn't work for the rates these firms pay these days as lost the speed

Is that standard? Providing your own power? I worked on a big site and I had to get a generator to mix up and get lights on, I hated every minute of it, the site agent was horrible and everything was hard work even parking the van was a mission all the subbies seemed to just accept that they were being used and treated like s**t. One of the bigger sites I've been on.

I thought sites are meant to provide you with Power. I know I've been on one's that don't, and some that will supply it if u torture them, but are quite happy for you to use your own. Last big site we were on they loaned us out Gennys, we'd have to put petrol in right enough, though they had bigger diesel ones about too if u had enough leads and they filled them up.

Do you know fay the turkish plasterer and his mate kevin norris

Used to throw on 50 bags of old size backing in one day skim the next day. That was then. Happy to make a decent job of it and go for 10 bags new small backing bags and skim same day and to be honest that's with labourer. Site work what a crock. Small builders lucky to find good one, keep them happy. Private work has best money making potential but most customers are shrewd these days. Industrial big money big paperwork and h n s madness. Plastering is a good way to hurt yourself and chasing bags or money is the way that you fool yourself into that hurt. Quality over quantity is my mantra. Yet somehow I still find myself doing extra because I am plastering man and then after I am broken man with a huge osteopath bill. Been plastering since a very young age? Born to a family of plasterers. Set your rate yourself and set it high. Maybe work less often but no worries earnings are high. Its no good in this game to chase race or overwork. Quality not quantity.

Just wondered what everyone can get on plaster board and to a high standard . I know site plastererd can throw it on just wondered average .between me n mate we can get between 8 n 10 bags . . Depending on weather . That's 2 gauges
Reading through this I’m beginning to wonder if iv been doing to much all these years 3 gauges a day and normally 6-7 bags on site work or new builds was just the way I was taught also to a high quality at the same that’s maybe why at the age of 30 my body is done knees back etc and that’s only the skimming 3 tubs of mortar a day when floating

Domestic work only. If I do 3 bags in a day i get a nose bleed . Doing empty 3 bed house. Can come and go . Makes a change no hoovering up every night.
Your just right it’s a marathon not a sprint I’m only just realising that lately after a few health problems just do a honest days work now and go home not going to kill myself to line someone else’s pocket

8 bags of Hardwall just to bring it out level with the blockwork! I’ve still to float it.
