iF you know what your doing your work won’t crack. Got an old timber house threw up in 70’s with popcorn ceilings, screw the boards back in as they were tacked. Re scrim joists. Skim. Not rocket science
The clue is in ....'Old Timber'...................When timber has dried and acclimatized you are ok...............Straight out the builders yard with thick Mick throwing a hammer at it.............You get problems.

Timber frame house from the 70's was rare cus they were new fangled things then...............Barrett Homes.

Of course. But you let it climatise first, right? Of course you did.

Well it had been assembled about 2 years before I decided to alter and adapt it to present building.

Besides I built it 'my' way..........Instead of usual studding my building timber frame is 9"x2" and has diagonal 45 degree struts in for strength. You could actually put a tank on top of it and it will go nowhere......It is bolted together as well and all screws and proper nails never a nail gun in sight.

If the timber moves for the many reasons Lurpy it will at least crack your board joints no mater what tape you use.

It's a studio. Recording studio...................and storage.

the 2 recording studios that we have worked on had all the walls and ceilings covered in slabs of cork. with huge rounded internal angles and ceiling lines so that a note could not be caught in a corner apparently.

You buy the cork and I'll bang it up. Until then I will make my own RW3 acoustic panels.
