Iv just finished my plastering qualification but the teachings fidnt include any new methods of plastering or using new techniques like using a speed skim or 1 voat sponge floating finish, i wanted to know if this is an effective way to do a finish? Doing one 3-4mm coat and sponge float then finish rather than 2 coats?

I recommend you do the tool washing module if they're fcuked after two houses. @algeeman uses his granddad's trowel.

How've you manged to fcuk a MT up in a year?

I personally never got on with any of that new kit....there didn't seem to be much benefit in it. Some folk seem to like them though. I'm sure someone will be along.

Whoever uses a sponge on skim wants a good kick in the b*ll***s . Learn the traditional way as said below and stick to it who can't go wrong

The best idea is try and team up with someone else even it's at the weekend and see when they use the new trowels and speedskims because it's very easy to make your walls worse using them, as for your marshalltown I have had my new for 2 years and it's now very good I would be lost without it now.

Surely to god you weren't taught that skim should be 3-4mm? If you were your qualification isn't worth shite.
