Hi lads and ladies I could do with a bit of advice, I took part in a charity auction in December and won a set of tools. I arranged the postage with the organiser and since have not had the tools delivered and nobody at the charity is getting back to me. It’s awkward as I don’t want to chase a charity for them as I really appreciate their cause however feel a bit done over seeing as I paid the bid and have heard nothing. Do I A- put it down to experience and know that someone has had the bid and it’s helped them or B keep pushing to find out what’s going on ? Advice would be greatly appreciated as I don’t know what to do for the beat

Couple of things, is it a genuine charity?
Are you sure you won?
Some ppl may think this harsh but I would be chasing them if a genuine charity, it’s probably just been an oversight with Xmas etc, but could also be someone’s got a nice set of tools that they shouldn’t have

Yep legit charity and was called out at the auction.

£70. I’ve just had an email back from the admin saying he’s “investigating” where they have gone so fingers crossed they sort it

I would chase it up....

You bid. You won. Goods or money back imo. Anything other is fraud... As a matter of principle you need to chase up and chase hard. If they return your money you are free to donate it back but that's your choice. Go push to resolve

So the tools have arrived..... not what I was told however good quality ox tools. Only down side is I have most of them so now got a collection of ox stuff to sell off to recoup my outlay
F******ck it

You do chase it up - a word about charities. There was a nasty rash of military charities knocking about in the last few years. It's possible to be perfectly legal and bent as a nine bob note. The reason is that a charity can spend whatever it likes on whatever it likes, so if you have a charity number, collect in the proper way and declare your outgoings, then you have a legitimate charity....notice that I didn't say that you have to help anybody.

There was one particularly sleazy outfit up in Blackpool operating under the name 'Help For The Heroes' or something. A look at his books showed that he'd spent all the money on marketing. A look at Companies house showed that he owned the marketing company.

So don't let people hide behind the word charity.

Found them. Support The Heroes. Nasty, horrible little outfit.
