s**t gear again

Little bedroom today should have been straight forward. The gears been fine for a bit then BANG, it’s shite again.

I thought I’d take the time to take a few pictures, to show the doubters just how s**t the gear (multi) can be.

This was laid down with a fresh mix too.

So put it on, fine, lay down with fresh gear, fine.

Go to flatten. Oh here we go. It’s pulling, ripping, tearing, streaky bacon the lot.

Some areas gone off, and next to it piss wet:

The 2.5 hour gauge turns into 4 when it like this, plus alot of anger.

So there you go. Think yourself lucky if it hasn’t happened to you. It’s not user error its s**t product.

@BritishGypsum what do you reckon? I’ve got half a bag of this horse s**t in van if you want to test it and tell me there’s nothing wrong with it

And before you say it essexandy rich richyrichy no i didn’t leave it like that.

Also some parts of wall were gone . So you run trowel over wall and it scratches areas then pulls sludgey gear from the wet areas . No fun

Pva was dry mate 1 thin coat on that
Might get a sponge after today

In all seriousness @lurpak always carry a new clean sponge float in your skimming bag.

1st sign of any horrible gear use it from the off, the reason people struggle with a sponge float is because they generally get them out to late when the set is already f**k*d!

I don't sponge every day or on every job but always have it to hand to sort the odd problematic area out in a room/job etc.

You would benefit more than most as you use the same gear to lay down (Posh 1 coat) this is when it is best suited to use imo.

As zombie says Lurpak a sponge would of made a world of difference in that situation, makes life so much easier. Them walls do look very very gritty pal

Can you piss off with all your posts making sense and forcing me to agree!!

I would say it’s at least worth a try for you if your struggling mate. Decent sponge is a tenner. I’d recommend a courser sponge tho I got a fine one first and it made it hard work really

A courser sponge? How rude. I’m not really a courser. Haha

I’ll get one . This rarely happens but is a ballache when it does

I got one of the refina medium sponges the orange one it helped me out of a couple of tricky suprises sent by BG . .. I know it's not funny

Never had gear go like that . If owt like thats happened normally down to what i.m skimming on or pva to wet

Biggest problem we’ve had lately isn’t anything do with the gear. All down to the pva, it’s just sitting on the wall and soon as skim touches it it takes all life out of it. Goes dead clumpy and drags. Can barely put and pressure on it otherwise it’s ripping straight off. More suction to the trowel than the wall. Wank

If the wall isn’t sucking the pva in you’ve either mixed up too strong or put too many coats on
