Need a second opinion - BAD WORK?

Hi guys,

I know walls are never going to be 100% perfect, but we've recently had a room renovated back to brick, boarded, skimmed and decorated. It looks shocking imo.

We're really not happy with the quality of work, as it's noticeable with just normal lamps on in the room or when the sunlight catches the wall.

Am I wrong for complaining?

Cheers

It's also worth noting that we've got a crack in the 1 wall where the plasterer used plasterboard adhesive to bulk-fill uneven boards, as well as a big crack in the ceiling.

The cracks appeared 2 weeks after completion.

They're claiming to have done 2 spreads on the ceiling, but they only did 1 (as I was home and questioned it at the time and was told it 'will be fine').

You can even see how tight the plaster is on the ceiling rose.

The other photo is where the walkway goes through into the kitchen. The crack is where that dark patch is in the left of the photo.

I always thought it to be good practice to plasterboard up and around using 'L' shape sections to avoid this?

I'm only ever going to comment on daylight pictures!

Anyone walking around with a halogen light shining sideways on in a otherwise dark room would be in for shock of there lives!
It's a dark room in the middle of the house, and we always have a lamp on, and you can easily see how bad the walls are.

Thank you for putting it as kindly as you did.

I wasn't being all high and mighty. I was responding to somebody who was flippant from his first comment. I can take a joke, but there's a difference when someones just out to offend somebody.

I don't think it fair to not be able to bite back after being goaded by someone, but that's cool.

Sorry if I offended anyone.

*with regards to being a customer, I have been using this forum before today as I have DIY'd 2 other rooms myself and found this forum to be very helpful.

I didn't just come on here to have a winge..

The pic of the square . If that's the walls and he had put the corner square where would wall be at other end .

That's the corner where the chimney breast meets the side wall. The way the boards have been fitted it kicks out at the bottom.

There seems to be a lot of negativity about customers voicing their concerns about the quality of the work that's been done.

I paid £2400 for the work done in this room, knock of the plaster, relocate radiators, plasterboard, skim, and paint.

If I wanted wavy walls like I'd have got Stevie wonder in and asked him to have a go with his left hand.

Is it bad that paying customers expect a decent standard of work? Or am I missing the point.

Again, not trying to be a dick just wondering why there's so much stigma around it that's all.

@theclemo your favourite subject :X3::X3::X3::X3:

For the life of me I can't get shining lights down f**k**g walls. If it looks s**t with no lights down it it's s**t. Don't need a f**k**g light to say it's s**t. If u are trying to get the perfect wall don't use multi finish level 4 finish. Use airless plaster level 5 finish.

The work is s**t above tho.

U got it done cheap if u ask me. It's good enough for the money.

If u are distressed about it. We sell theclemrope.

The answer to all life's problems.

I only used the light as the room is too dark for my cameraphone to take a photo without it looking too grainy.

RobDee you know who your beef is with regarding that plaster work we said it’s not good so get on the phone get him round and tell him to get it sorted

If they'd have quoted us and said, "it'll probably be sh*t", we wouldn't have gone with them.

These came recommended as well.

This picture is interesting. Have you put a level to the wall and ceiling?
