Hi

I am a DIY plasterer rather than an expert. I've used both gypsum and Limelite and I find Limelite ok to use but you need to put the bonding on first or it doesn't stick to the walls very well.

However, I've plastered my house with Limelite Renovation plaster and top coat to treat damp issues after pulling off the old mix of Lime and gypsum plaster put on by an incompetent builder employed by the previous owner of my house. (which reacted badly due to salt issues).

Results are very good.

Limelite doesn't go off as quickly as conventional one coat Thistle plaster. Which for me was very good as I'm very slow at plastering. Which makes ceiling normally a nightmare with gypsum.

Major difference with Limelite is mixing. Start off with less water than normal and add slowly or you end up with really runny plaster. If you add too much Limelite too soon, it becomes to heavy to stick to the walls.

I’ve just priced a job with this spec myself 500m2 on mesh. Never used it before, it seems to be like MP75

we used the Limelite base coat with the Limelite finish coat , the 2 coat system. we ordered 5 pallets of base, 1 pallet of finish. still a few bags of finish left over. the discount we got from Travis was £19 a bag for base and £11a bag for finish . with a 5 day delivery time.

Hello.. the whitewall we will usually go over the delta (plastic membrane) system..
If you are just going to the brickwork.. then the renovating backing will be best.
You can normally use thistle finish to skim coat.. you should use an anti sulphate to kill the salts on the brickwork

you may want to consider the Mike Wye plasters. base coat, secil eurocork insulating plaster with mesh, 2nd coat secil finish render a corse finish, 3rd coat regency finish very fine but very slow. the limelite finish coat on the secil system sets a lot quicker.
