Advice Needed - Cowboy Plasterers

I’m only winding you up Lodan. ;)

You’ve been giving me such a hard time on here!
Ok mate, maybe sorry , I didn't get paid once and felt it wasn't justified and it hurt my pride a bit, so I'm a bit weary of the look at this work posts

My plumber told me a horry story where he was knocked for £3k by someone who paid the deposit, but when he finished, they told him they didn’t have the money to pay him. Apparently there are people out there who just do this as a matter of course.

I’m not one of those. In fact I tipped the guys who did the ceiling today, to say thanks for making time for it and doing such a thorough job.

Was only £500 for me for a room and he sent me two photos of the same miss near skirting line in a corner. Refused to pay and said I was going turn up said if I did he would post on all my places I could be reviewed that I'd intimidated him into paying money for bad work. Nothing wrong with my work I see it painted every week and paint half of it

Talking about painted work. Here’s a few pics of the ceiling in the hallway where they did remove the paper. Decorator spent half a day trying to correct it.

Been recommended Easi Filler as it can be sanded very thin. Any other thoughts?

Have you tried joint cement, powdered not ready mixed, great stuff, when your finished with it just leave it in the bucket with a touch of water in top and its good to use again tomorrow. Great to use and easier to sand too !

Just for clarity. The decorator recommended a “plasterer” he knew called Dave (not his real name). I organised the job with Dave. Dave didn’t turn up on the day he said and txt me 30 minutes before he was meant to arrive saying his workmate was still on holiday, but he could make it the next day. The next day Dave and Bob rock up at 11:30am. Turns out Dave isn’t a plasterer but a decorator, so Bob’s left doing all the plastering.

When I spoke to Dave the next day to tell him what a state it looked, he said sorry, it wasn’t his normal plasterer and that they always plaster over paper and it’s fine.

Few days later Bob calls me to apologise and says Dave told him to do it. Then he asks if he can still be paid. I told him the take that up with Dave and he says Dave won’t take his calls. Not sure how he got my number then.

No bs here mate. I’m an honest and fair bloke who just wants a decent job done and willing to pay decent money for it.
Dave and Bob......

So poor old bobby boy (cowboy plasterer) has been shafted by two fly by night toshers! f**k me it just gets better don’t it! Lol.

Sounds like a right tosser to work for. f**k knows how much he spent on that ceiling it's still not right. I couldn't live with that shite in my house

Given the state the other guys left the ceiling in, this is obviously a compromise, rather than taking the whole thing down. I think the ceiling looks great personally so it’s a good job I’m the one living with it and not you then.

Would you prefer a client that told you what they wanted or one that didn’t and complained after?

Before - botch job - fixed - final result.

Spoke to the original “plasterer” today and he was honest enough say he made a mistake and didn’t want payment. So overall it’s worked out ok.

Lodan, I have never heard you use such language. @JessThePlasterer cover your ears and eyes
I know right?! People on here seem to forget they are in the presence of a graceful lady full of upstanding qualities.... decorum, honour, benevolence, innocence, probably virginity..... arrrgh there was one more but can’t remember the f**k**g twatty quality!! ....... c**t balls....

... class! That was it! Full of class :numberone:

Fair play to the spread for not asking for payment, just look at the ripples!

Any after pictures?
