Get in your van, drive to his door, then calmly but firmly tell him that you are here for your payment .

Can't stand people like that, self centered c**ts.

I like the customers who pay you with cash left on the table before you even start the job, decent people!

PayPal or something like is the way forward........as you finish.....”just like you to send me the dosh now matey”....as there’s no actual cash to part with it’s all painless.......just had a floor laid, and paid via bacs from my phone to his bank and he had the confirmation text before his tools were cleared away. Painless.

I never leave without payment and I make it clear from the start that its payment on completion.if its a bigger job then I'll expect payment on friday for the work thats been done through the week In 20years I've only had one person try it on and that was for a paltry £15 short.

We don’t all go to Tesco for our shopping and at the checkout say”cheers darling great service I’ll catch up with you next week for payment”do we???Plumbs so they are the full lot of them, can tell a mile off now if customers are going to be funky over payment,I’ve never not been paid but a few have stalled for one reason or another, welcome to the world of self employed, still outweighs being books in bye a long shot!!

Fair play. The predicament I have is i worry it will offend people if i say that. As 99% pay is it worth it. But i have seriously considered it moreso as hate asking for my money

Its never been a problem for me really and its always put across in a matter of fact way. I learned the hard way from site work never feel bad for asking for whats rightfully yours.

Fully agree. It’s just so rare I get messed about. They always pay but sometimes just withold it a bit for absolutely no reason. Proper wind up

When I first started there was a proper good spread who was the rather rude when it came to asking for money it would be “well then we’ve done your job where’s my money cash is gratefully accepted you’ve got until my tools are in the van”

If it costs x you pay x, I'm up front respectfully. I've got many repeat customers and always get payed. I do the best by them and in return I get payed. I've fell out with customers well into jobs and still got what they owed me.

Makes you laugh doesn't it, those customers they think they are looking after and keeping sweet by charging cheap rates wouldn't help them if for whatever reason they (the tradesmen) got into financial difficulty.. cheap customers want cheap jobs just to line their own pockets more and have more money to spend on themselves. Don't ever treat them like a friend, charge as much as you can get away with, that's what they would do.
