Best way to finish Knauf mp

I have been forced to use knuaf plaster for 22 years due to the company I work for but this latest version of Knauf MP is harder to get a descent finish. I have tried Nela trowels but in my opinion they don’t work with Knauf plasters. I finally settled on the Refina 18” s*p*r*lex trowel and think this is the dogs for Knauf mp.

I have used a spat for 1st flatten and then flatten the plaster out before my last trowel and have always liked this but this week I decided to try the Speedskim. I bought the 600 and 900mm versions both with metal blade and I’m impressed with the results but the plaster is too old so due to this it’s taking forever to set so I have no idea on how good it will be with new Knauf bags.

Is it worth me buying the plastic blade version or do I have the better one already.

Hi Steve

Sorry to hear that you are having some issues recently..... My name is Richard Lord, I work for Knauf - I actually look after the Knauf Aquapanel Cement Boards.....

For the great fun of it - and sometimes my sins - I am the regular Knauf contact here on The Plasterers Forum (regular-ish, obviously posting on a Tuesday after your posts on Sunday - LOL sorry).

Danny has also tagged my colleagues Clive (@quinns ) who also periodically on here and the Knauf Official contact - Clemo is a GREAT Irish Spread who uses Knauf products in Ireland, there are also many other guys who are or have been users over the years on here

Can I recommend that you give Knauf a call on 01795 424499 and ask to be put in contact with one of the Knauf Technical Instructors or the Training School Manager - you may be asked where you are based to get hold of the local contact....
All of the Knauf Technical Instructors are time served spreads, dry liners, finishers etc., and have experience of using all Knauf Plasters in many and various applications.

If you have any issues getting anyone, get in touch with me directly and I will ensure someone gets back in touch with you - call me during working hours or text me your details and location - 07918 766577.

Good Luck
Richard

Only used this in the cold and damp before l found Speedskim st with the blue plastic blade then leave it alone for longer then you would board or multi spat it shallow angle on the spat and keeping the blade damp but not drenched then a flick over with a plazzy.
Stay off it during rippling time and get on it before tearing time and don't try to polish it.

Thanks for your offer of help. Just recently the plaster has not really had a set time and even though the plaster was turning colour as it was setting it was still blebbing loads and I could hard trowel wet plaster of it the next day.

The bags had a useby date of 6/6/2018 which is probably why it was so bad. I know as the plaster gets a few weeks old the set gets very slow. My new load of bags have arrived on site with a useby date of 29/7/2018, is this a normal date for th bags or have I been given old stock from CCF again?
