Every Plasterer & Renderer Should Wear Safety Glasses

Last year there was a topic on the Plasterers Forum called “Everyone should wear safety glasses” In this thread Sa88m from SC Spray Renders was asking why plasterers and renderers are not wearing safety glasses and that it really is a good idea as he lost his sight in 2007 from getting Weber Pral M in it and in November 2016, he had his eye removed because of the constant p

I've tried a few different types over the years but haven't found any that don't mist up making work more dangerous.
I don't do any chopping off without wearing a pair, but I'm not moving around then.
One thing I am getting better at, although far too late, is wearing ear protection. I have tinitus or however it's spelt and it's a b*****d.
Look after your ears guys they can't be repaired. Who said that?

Washing up liquid works and there is a cream you can use to clean them...

There are some that have vents as well :D

How do you cope with your Tinnitus Andy? I've had mine about 7 years give or take, gets really bad at times but I have better coping mechanisms now than I used to. When it's bad it's bloody annoying, was going to start a thread about it but think I've started enough threads lately

Well @Olican I find that by far the best way of coping with tinnitus is to get a load of hairy arsed spreads to hand over some of their hard earned for a worthy cause.
It should make you feel a lot better about everything.

Now to be serious.
I find that I can ignore or even forget that the ringing is going on in my head. Quite often I totally forget it's there until someone says "how's the tinnitus", arrrr it was f**k**g fine until now thanks.
I also don't like being anywhere that's really, really quiet. If I'm out fishing as long as the birds are singing away I'm fine, sit in a quiet room and the ringing will drive me insane.

I struggled with mine for the first years, the worst time is when it comes up in conversation, as I'm writing this it's get louder and louder. That fact this is happening is a reassurance because it is mostly psychosomatic . Nothing has changed physically so why is the sound louder ,the fact that your awareness of the noise has changed. There are loads of distraction techniques that long term sufferers use but for me Hypnotherapy worked wonders, but this a long topic deserving of its own thread.

You're absolutely right as I was tapping away my last post the ringing was just getting louder and louder.
You've just made me think of one of my favourite bands as well;
Psychosomatic action baby!!!
Prodigy! No wonder I've got tinnitus lol.
I've never even told a doctor that I suffer to be honest, so have never been told what, if any, help is available.
You are right there should be a thread solely for this that people can find easily, preferably before they get it.
