In summer I get 3 sets done for 3 to half 3. I don't play with the skim to much.

we lay the first coat on tight then a thicker 2nd coat. both coats applied very neat. on the first coat is soon on it way and helps to pull the 2nd coat in.

I one coat one wall per set , mix up same for both coats and then once second coat has stodged a bit pick the simplest bits available

Prefer 2 coating. Well we usually first coat the opposites in a room then double coat it before we go into next room, but if it's sitting soft we first coat on before dropping back to lay in. Use 5-7 buckets a set between 2 us depending on what we are at. Usually 3 sets a day but atm only really getting 2 atm with the longer setting times.

Setting times are making me sad....cold new build 4.00-4.15 per set

Well used media for bout week now . Still not sold . When it dried seem to be lots of drag lines that not showed up on painted work but stills concerns me . Kept going back to finished walls and giving bits a quick run with carbon. Also starting to think all these new toys are down to alot of poor work thats popping up .

There was plenty poor work before them trowels existed though definitely think a lot of people using them too early is contributing to some surely, same with speedskims imo. Only really for finishing, good once u get hang of the timings of using them, but they aren't for everyone. If ur happier using steel right through stick to what works best for u, many a day I use ss start to finish.

I found with medi best was to let it really pull in .. Then allways use water and dont go back on to your last stroke at all if poss as that seemed to drag. . Defo work better firmer the plaster is

Yes definitely, usually, unless of high suction, we give the stuff 4 trowels and wouldn't use Medi any earlier than 3rd and most times just for last run I use it. Try to time using it, as the gear is starting to blacken, seems to work a treat then.

Yeah agree I actual left it and started 2nd set then dropped back on it

We do it completely the other way round.
Laying in takes roughly half the first coat.

we first coat very tight so that the first coat starts to pull in the second coat. if we want to slow the hit down we lay on a little thicker. just the way we where taught, to get a good finish with least effort.
plastering methods where different in local areas.

Ha can't go wrong with that right through to many people getting boosted by everything new and forget this does it all
I’ve had plazi suoerflex mediflex speedskim the lot and I ended up over complicating things so I went back to basics 1 trowel all the way through although do flatten with a speedskim

Nothing wrong with one trowel all way through. Done it today start to finish xtralite. Still do like a medi for finishing at times.

It’s fit and starts for me I go through fazes of loving the extra bits to then thinking wtf am I doing and go back to basics

Why have yous got rid of it? Is it to push building projects along to paint them or what?
Was that question to me Simon?
If so; I don't decide what sort of internal system a client wants. Usually the decision is made by the architects at the drawing stage, I don't think many architects even know about S&C anymore.

When I went over to the site Work house bashing hospitals schools ect on my first day I was that geezer who looked like it was his first day had all the clean clothes and a new tool bag new tools as I was keen went in and I was proper out of my depth and when I got my trowel out I was laughed at at how shiney and new it was one of the blokes picked it up and started scraping the floors with it I proper bottom lipped it eyes were misty and he went oi u soppy c**t this will help break it in so shape up and load out for tomo will you and don’t take long about it, to this day I remember that day and how sad I felt and still don’t believe what he was telling me was true, funny thing is me and that man become great mates and he was a meter eater and always fast neat and always left a good finish and he soon whipped me into line few years later I asked why he was so hard on me and not the ones he sacked after a month he said it’s cos he knew I had it but needed to man up

We done the swimming pool area over Epping hospital all sand Cement and finish there was miles and miles of it sort of a turning point for me in that it was time to just go for it and not worry about the size bit like when I was in Thailand lol
