Morning all,

I have a apex area approximately 7meters x 3 meters, minus the window leaves you with a 10sq meter area which I need rendering in the next couple of weeks if the weather permits.

It’s a timber framed loft conversion so the area has been plyboarded. Being timber there’s obviously going to be movement so need to be advised the best method to use with this and the cost to do it,

The house is located in the IG6 area of Essex, I have Scaffolding up already.

Let me know if anyone close by is intersted to take the job on. I’ll get a couple of photos up later.

Thanks

Hello everyone I’m back with the same job to still be completed as a result of two separate people letting me down, not showing up when agreeing a start date.

Anyway here’s some pictures of the job, it’s the apex area of a house approximately 7x3 meters minus the window. The area is plyboarded and now covered as you can see. I got to cover the top of the apex area still but haven’t had a chance yet.

I would like it to be done using cement board preferably knauf aqua panel. I need it done while I still have the Scaffolding

Pictures below so let me know what you think. If you need any more info let me know.

I’m in Hainault, Essex, IG6 postcode, near Barkingside / Romford, Ilford.
My number - 07990973092

Hi Naz, I'm in Ilford (but not interested in the job) . There must be some reason why 2 seperate guys didn't turn up ??? Did you try and get the price reduced/bad scaffold access etc ?

it will cost tidy sum for all the visits needed for that small external. the plasterer needs to do the internal work as well .

In Ilford is all about how much you can knock off the price. The first meet is 40% less and then is all down to negotiation.

So, so true. That's why I won't even look at work around here. All the "special price for value my friend" merchants

Windows aren't deducted that's one reason no ones turned up to do it.

First guy was intending to do the work over weekends and every week end said he couldn’t make it because the job he’s on

Second person, again agreed to do the work but when it came to starting said he did his back in so can’t do it.

And no I didn’t haggle to reduce the price, they qouted and I agreed also they weren’t charging pocket change.

What you on about? The one doing the work is giving the price for the job not the customer so what has someone’s approx measurements got to do with it, the measurements are there to give people an idea of the size of the area so if there willing to, they come and give a price. And if you work out the sizes given you will see that the window has been deducted.

The reason why they didn’t turn up is cause there taking on more work then what they can manage

You might be the only right customer in whole Ilford mate . I was quoting 2 jobs last week only and it was my experience that I shared before. Hope you get sorted! (y)

Hi Naz, as I said, I wasn't interested in the job. But as stated, it wasn't pocket change means it wasn't cheap.
Seems strange no one seems to want to do the job despite your generosity. Are you sure they're not happy with the scaffold or something ?

Nope nothing wrong on my side, some people who have turned up didn’t have a clue about render carrier boards, some didn’t want to get the materials even though I was paying for the materials on delivery and then, as someone from this forum did, contacted me and said there coming round and wouldn’t turn up and then rearrange and not turn up again!

Now being a plumber myself, if I did that to someone I would expect the customer to be displeased to say the least and I wouldnt expect to be getting much work from recommendations. I don’t say I’ll take a job on and not do it and certainly don’t tell people I’m coming round and not turn up!

Anyway done is done, I’ve got someone now hopefully starting the work, so thanks for your time

Yep could be the case,

Have got someone who will be taking the job on and seems to know his stuff so maybe my luck is changing

FIngers crossed... this time of the year people are either rammed or not... and some just cant be bothered if they have enough work on

Oh ok. If they didn't know how to do the job you're well rid of them. It's better to pay much pocket change to having very good man and not paying small to have bad plasterman. As an Irish man I wouldn't promise to make this job a good one when these other men not having clue and charging customer person big money and not knowing.
I'm sure you will find other very very skilled man in Ilford who can make this job a good one . Outside the Sikh temple in Ilford and also outside Wickes in Barking there are many skilled men who could make your randering look good . The plaster ones always sit outside with trowels in their yellow gorilla tubs to prove they are plasterers.

NB. Always pick the ones with the nice shiny trowels, not the chancers with trowels covered in plaster.
Best of luck with it neighbour
