Had to price a job yesterday, gave him, Imo a very fair price considering, all ceilings have been boarded and need skimmed, 3 full rooms need reskimned, patching bonding and a fee stud walls downstairs and upstairs, and he basically wants it done ASAP, but of course get the phone call back its more than he expected then wanted a breakdown of it and wanted to know how I got to that price going by day rates etc. If he wanted me to do it on a day rate, why did he ask me to price the F*****g house.

I told him he will get what he pays for,and he won't get it done better for that money. Well he buys to let, said his older plasterers on last houses he done up did a good job too, I said why doesn't he get them to do it then. Trying to hint of the price is right about doing the next one. Of he's going to get on like that he can keep it. Not worth the hassle.

A few years back I gave a bloke a slight discount for his whole house because he said I could have his extension too which was being built. Then he gave it to someone else because they gave him a cheaper quote for it after I'd finished the house. People suck. Lesson learned

As soon as any customer tries that s**t with me I realise I no longer want the job and start asking them how much they earn and why etc followed by get someone else and go f**k yourself

its good aint it.

dont goto ford or tesco and say thats more than expected. give me a breakdown on your costs...

fcking cheeck really aint it

Yeah he doesn't seem to grasp if its price, there will be a push on, probably do 3 hits a day. Day rate on jobs like that are 2hits especially with temperature dropping and stuff taking longer to set. I won't be putting myself under pressure with big settings for a F*****g day rate. f**k that. He can run on if he doesn't like it.

If he does get back to me I'll ask him if he questions his solicitor or dentist when he gets the bill, probs more per hour than what he wants to pay me a day. If he wants it done he'll pay up. Of he doesn't no loss to me. I don't need it

The old dangling the carrot trick. Every fecker is at it nowadays. Must be something on google for homeowners advice to deal with tradesmen.

No chance will I drop it. Tbh I can't be bothered with it, hate reskims. Lol pva and f**k**g about. If he had dabbed/boarded the whole house or that, price would be lower as plasterboard is a gift to skim over. Hes not happy f**k him mate. Don't give a s**t.

And NEVER work for any c**t who says that they don't want a Rolls Royce job.

They want a Rolls Royce job all right.

What they mean is that they don't want to pay for one.

Oldest trick in the book Jess. If I think I'm getting future work I might price higher than normal because I don't wanna get stuck on same standard prices long term. 1 2 and 3 day jobs generally pay much better for me

Stand your ground Simon fcuk this c**t.You don't have to explain how you priced a job to anyone.A price is a price.Sometimes I get asked how long will it take,my answer is it depends how many men I bring even though only two of us will be going.I hate people like that.

Yeah he told me the apparent day rate for a plasterer and asked me how many days it would take, as I said, day rate and price is different, try and push more to get it read up. Havent heard feck all from him yet, don't expect to now, unless he's scrabbling around trying to get some one else in last minute. If he thinks I'll take a week off my normal job to drop everything for him, needs to catch himself on. I don't want or need the hassle. I'd have been bringing someone else with me, maybe 2 to wipe the ceilings all out in a day, me and other boy on stilts and a boy to mix and to smaller ones off a hop. He wants day rate, probably take 2days to do the ceilings jumpin up and down like a clampet. f**k sake he wants it done for nothing. Boss agreed my price was in keeping with what he'd charge. Man wants me to do. It for a wage likely. No thanks.

Update, he rang me back, said he had a couple of other fellas out to look at it, asked what I could do on the price, I said, nothing. That's as low as I can do it for. Long pause, right ok. Tbh I didn't expect him to go for it in the end, surprised me. Thought he'd have went with cheaper

Still tell him you want anal with his wife and sucked off between gauges

People getting cheekier by the day. Quoting is what I find the most difficult these days, just had enough of it, giving them a price then they try knock you down or get freebies out of you and giving sarcastic comments that you're on footballer's wage and the rest.

Yeah, exactly. Look end of the day itbseems be getting more common for people to question how long it will take you to do it, and they have an idea in their head of what a plasterer should get a day, usually, pretty low estimate of it too. Don't realise if u take it on price u work harder to get it read up. They don't factor in all the other s**t with it. How Labour intensive it is etc especially not pricing in a lab with it, mixing coating troweling cleaning etc. Pain in the arse on bigger sets. Alright in one or 2 bag hits, but Need paid accordingly then.

People tend to.forget most of us trying to run a business, it's not just turn up at the same address every day and sit behind the till and go beep beep. They think there's a limit.what a person should earn a day, with the exception of the sparks and plumbers as they can hike the price if you have an emergency or need things done yesterday. I just want a fair wage every month that's all

You do know if hes like this now, he's gonna be a right arse later on.
He'll be trying to pick spots everywhere, extra pressure and the rest.
I'd bin it off.

Yip, a fair wage for volume of work done is hardly much to ask for.

He'd need to be alright, for it will be done, and done pretty well, if I do say so myself. Won't go in there to do it half arsed.

Didn't mean you wouldn't do it well boss.
Just meaning he would try at every turn to trip you up and chip you.

Its just extra stress you can do without.

We did a hall and stairs last week, but just because the customer said they wanted it perfect caused us a whole load of grief.
We ALWAYS try to be perfect but the extra pressure caused us a lot of stress.

Yeah, get you man, but end of the day, the man I normally work for, is fussier than anyone I have seen before, as much as it can be a pain the arse, it keeps you on your toes, and keeps standards high. But, we are all human, odd mistakes can happen, long as we rectify them easily enough. He might try and act the c**t, but, I'll have to hope he doesn't, just doesn't like parting with his money. Few of them do.
