Ive just had most of my property rendered in a white monocouche but I’m a little disappointed with the result (neighbouring properties don’t look like this) however I know nothing about it!

Is this a good job?

Professional honest opinions please. Thank you in advance.

This was the second attempt. I didn’t know if my expectation for a flat/ level surface was unreasonable as they don’t seem to agree it’s not an acceptable finish.

Is this a case of - it needs to get hacked off and start again or can it be saved without hacking off?

Parex is the brand they used? I don’t know the cost as it was a big project. Originally he had a company coming in, but it changed twice resulting in a man, his helper and his 16year old son. (I expect Builder is running out of money as they have done nothing but waste time/ money this build and has literally gone for cheapest person he could get. We were assured of his brilliance though and he showed us examples which I now doubt were completed by him)

This is terrible position to be in , I’m not 100% sure but some of the others will confirm but I’d say a thin coat of Arenino with vimarkatex over the top of it all if @Bauwer confirmed that is ok spec to create a sponge pre colour finish over the top, but anyone who is gonna try and do it would need to view it first

Not a good job indeed. If the render is solid, it could be over coated with 3mm of Arenino VK2 with a sponged finish as advised by @Vincey . What is the job location @1Novice ?

We are in Essex, outskirts of basildon.

Trying to contact local companies to get people round for a quote but I have yet to receive any response.

Not really sure of the way forward. The guy is meant come tomorrow to redo one wall and patch bits in etc but I’m very unconvinced this is going to actually improve things as this is attempt no. 3 when he thought it was good enough to be the finished article.

the joys of builders...

I would hack it off and go again if I had the choice

It's a poor effort,it's a simple case of lads tackling a job that they don't have the experience doing.
the only option is to go over it with a thin coat system get in touch with parex in any case.
The only issue is, going over it, is that you've no idea how they done the prep work originally, it's only as good as the original substrate, for ultimate piece of mind it would be a knock off job.
I'd say 1 in 5 of enquiries I get in are botch jobs, a sad state of affairs.

Stuart Kilner is Essex based.

The finish can be rectified easy enough with a thin coat system for which there are many. Baewer above is one.

The downside is this job has not been ruled off flat. It is full of bumps and hollows. So even with a thin coat system when the sun is at the 1’o clock position it is still going to look like the North Sea on a bad day.

Lawyer up or your house will look like that for years to come and you'll be gutted everytime you look at it.

Upside........in time that will be a sought after look......people will say "them old- timers knew their stuff" ........" they put that on with a machine y'know, and then rubbed it back by hand!"........not like nowadays......

I may get some work then!!

If you could wait untill next year we could have a look at rectifying this for you.

Either keep the render that's there on and thin coat over it or take off and redo.

We are Parex Approved [emoji16]
