As things are getting busier Lee's getting more work offered on his side of town which is obviously better for him as there's little to no travelling involved. Not so much the distance, but crossing Birmingham is a pain to say the least.
Which means that as I'm doing more (nearly all) my stuff close to Solihull/Shirley I need to find someone local-ish.

My requirements are that they're reliable, work tidy (as it's all domestics) and leave a good finish. It'll be float and set or board and skim mostly. Other stuff like rendering or screeding does happen but it's not essential that the same bloke does it.

Work alone and if needed I can be available as a labourer/lifter/carrier or as a gang. Either they can supply materials or I can have everything on site waiting. If I supply then it'll be from a list given to me by the spread for their preferences.

I don't mess people about, nor do I argue rates, so it'll be a good opportunity for someone.

Anyone interested or got a recommendation? I'll stress again though, I need someone who's known to be good at their job and reliable.

Obviously you/they can check me out, ring @Nisus or @Olican etc.

Cheers mate for the recommendation [emoji106]but I'm back doing barns in bridgenorth and Telford again 11 in all over two years so committed to those also I don't really cover brum it's a ballache remember kingsHeath ? Ffs I can get to Devon quicker [emoji23]

It takes me half an hour to get from my house to anywhere in Coventry. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to get across Birmingham on a good day and if there's an accident or roadworks you can double that.

Lee's working around Albrighton/Wolverhampton which shortens his day by at least two hours.

If we were closer I'd be ringing you! Opportunity to work with Yoda (y)

Yoda! I'd prefer to be likened to Obi-Wan, the Alec Guinness version not the other muppet.

Joking aside, it's very difficult to get someone reliable and good at their trade, and an apprentice would be great for me and them as they'd learn plenty. They'd get an opportunity to work with a plumber, brickies, plasterers etc. gain heritage building knowledge, structural steel/timberwork, and pick up skills that would set them up for life. Happy to put them through college to gain the paperwork.

No bloody chance, everyone wants to sit in an office or learn 20% of a single trade in a couple of months then get onto the same money as someone who's been in the trade for decades. :endesacuerdo:

Still, on the bright side it saves me having any extra hassle. :descansando:

These beading points, too accurate for apprentice people :rayos:

Sometimes it's the opposite issue.

"This place is 300 years old, put the level away."
"But. I. How do ..." {Sits in the corner rocking gently and looking at social media for comfort.}
"Oh for fcuk's sake! Just put the kettle on."
"I'm not your slave!....... Why are you looking at me like that? No, don't ......" {Runs for 'safe space'. Realises it isn't, opens Uber App, never seen again.}

There is still 2 Bg scheme plasterers within the area that would be happy to meet you mate , both in there late forties early fifties with over 25 years experience, I know some people frown upon the scheme but I can pass your number on if you like

I've no issue with the scheme, or using someone on it. (y) I just wanted to give forum members first refusal for the work, although there doesn't seem to be much interest. Still, I suppose it's because the work's in a small backwater where not many people live, so there aren't many plasterers about.

If no one's interested by Monday I'll get their contact details off you and give one a ring. BG scheme - 1 Plasterer's forum - 0

I'd come and work with you. You'd like me.

The trouble is that I'd rather stoke the fires of hell than work in Birmingham.

Shame no-one in Lancashire was looking for a good bloke.

I know, it's the same whichever way you cross Birmingham. I try to avoid it now and I don't blame anyone for doing the same, it's why Lee's not doing it now that he's got plenty on over his way. There's no point in extending your working day if you don't need to, and especially if that time's unpaid/unproductive. It'll add insult to injury in a couple of years when it's going to cost £20:00 to cross the city.

Yes and no, by which I mean there is a bloke I've contacted who's sorting out availability, prices etc. He's got first refusal as that's only fair.

Awww I was gearing up for a road trip lol

I'm waiting for a big job to come up that makes it worthwhile to get a load of forum members over to do it, everyone gets paid (have to be the same rate, no favourites) so no lost earnings and the job gets done quicker so good for the customer. I reckon it'd be a good crack, everyone on one site taking the p1ss out of each other for speed and finish. Then all go out on the lash.

Auf Wiedersehen Pet style gathering. What could possibly go wrong? o_O

I'm in

I’d go would be great to work with @Marshy , I could give the guarantee too,

I’d guarantee if there was a fit milf there I’d end up doing all the work while marshy sorts her out :risas:

There'd probably be a few that'd go. Mind you, I imagine a thick skin, good sense of humour and able to not take yourself too seriously would be as much prerequisites as an ability to plaster.

We could put up a TPF banner outside ready for when @Danny turned up with a film crew from the BBC.

You'd be too busy in your role as 'official photographer' taking all the candid shots. We need someone who can take clear photo's in case they're needed as evidence. :nocausagracia:

Hope it happens this year! I remember last years project nisus kept for himself and posted only depressing pictures, apart from that dildo:D

He was living back at his Mum's at the time. So I did what any responsible adult would, and when he wasn't looking I hid the knob extension/dildo in his washing. He said when he emptied the bag it fell out, but she wasn't there to see it.

He called me some very rude names. :(

So when are we talking @imago?? Your mate Lee has seen my work first hand in France and doubt my quality will let you down

Basically as soon as the right job comes up, which I reckon has got to be a whole house or barn conversion, and unoccupied. Anything else wouldn't be worth the time of a decent sized group, and part of the idea that it'd combine a day or more of paid work so that no one's out of pocket, but they get a chance for a bit of crack through the day. Then I guess the usual night out on the lash, curry etc.

Once I get the nod on a job like that there'll be enough warning to give people chance to get their diary organised and Robert's your Mother's sibling. (y)
