Female Plasterer Set To Start Own Business

I'm still going to say what I always say plastering full time is not a profession for a lifetime carear for a women!

Its just a fad!... If there still doing it in 5/10 years+ I'll stand hanging!

Its far to physically demanding!
I've been plastering 7 years. Are you standing hanging?? We're consumed by it and growing our company so.....so.... there! :burlas:

I welcome the day when it just isn't even talked about. Who cares? We don't. I couldn't give a s**t about the patronising things people say sometimes. 98% of people I meet are sound. I just want to get on with it. One day hopefully no one will care. I like the people on here. Some people say things I disagree with but each to their own. Really over it. For the time being I'd rather take it as banter unless someone's actually a complete idiot

Phhhh....get back in kitchen!

ugh, why does the post save like a draft copy so you end up unknowingly posting something you started writing then couldn't be arsed with? f**k it, i'll finish the sentence.......

I am often annoyed by some women who try to get into plastering for the wrong reasons and ultimately end up wasting people's time and their own and falling into a stupid stereotype.... therefore reinforcing stereotypes about women in construction. do it. don't do it. Just do it for a good reason

Thin end of the wedge this is........next thing there'll be a woman in no10 or Doctor Who.......oh...wait..........Taaaaxi

to be fair you go back to 2009 and read peoples opinions on it then.... I think it is quite accepted now :D it was hell trying to moderate this place back then

I hope not! Well, maybe plastering my own properties still, that's the long term plan. But in and out of people's houses etc when I'm 50? No thanks, I'm falling apart now at 30!
They're in lies the problem jess, 30 and you can feel it on your body. There will come a time you want out but won't know what to do as you've been plastering that long. That's why I got out, couldn't imagine still plastering in my fifties and I'm only 7 year off it.

I got told to make your money and get out when you can....

I've worked along side two female plasterers before. One was really quite good and amazing at cornice but the other wouldn't do anything... wouldn't even carry a bag of plaster all we ever heard was woman should only be carrying 20kg not 25kg .... Well get another f**k**g job then!

Wishing her a happy luck and life. It's really a good news.
@Elina lorenz stop commenting on old posts with drivel you annoying git. Once you've replied it gets bought up as something new on everyone's account.
Read, look at date and only reply if it's a recent thread, unless you've got something groundbreaking to add. Thank you.

Dont see too many here, was one owned a floor screeding company (well It was her and 2 Eastern Europeans wheeled to her) it was her das business and then she obviously Got into it. Don't know if still at it or not years since seen her about, but then could be doing work for other firms than what I've been on. Seen few apprentice joiners and Sparks, painters, haven't seen no female brickys or plasterers as yet here lol.

Don't get them over here as we do a lot of sand and cement work here. And real plasterers do internal and external here. In the UK they call someone a plasterer that does domestic skimming jobs. Send a woman floating out houses wit 15mm on some doorframes pushing a few ton of sand and cement up walls and then floating it. Then skimming it all out. They are not built like men. Sounds sexist but I don't care. Lol

That could be it, some frames we have. To float around is even heavier. I like sand cement though as sadistic as that may be lol
