Hi lads,

What's best to use for an ensuite, micro or Venetian?
How soon you can cover a freshly skimmed wall over with either?
I'm looking at isomat micro at the minute, or any other recommendations?
Cheers
Zol

I've only tried the easyfloor micro from applicart. Damned good stuff, and no need for base coat on the walls, just prime and go.
I'd have thought use micro if you're going into a shower. I know both can be used (venetian looks infinitely better to me) and venetian can be sealed with paraffin wax to waterproof...

I'd say microcement every day zolco.Go for a smooth finish and not textured as easy for cleaning.Have you done any micro before?I always seal 3times in wet areas.Once skim is dry you can apply.

I only tried it on a floor on a demo, so this will be the first time trying to fail lol
When you seal it, do you still mastic where the micro meets the shower tray, if so before or after sealing with Pu?

i mastic after micro has been applied inbetween coats.when are starting it mate?
Cheers mate, starting 12 Jun, have to get mats together really. How quick the micro dries, is it difficult to use different colours to do a pattern/feature? Thinking CNC some stuff out of 3-4mm board and put it in top coat till pulls in, when dried fill in with different colours if you understand what I mean.

yeah i get what you mean.If you pm me your number I'll call you on Monday if you like and run you through a few bits.It will be easier for me to explain.

I would use Micro if doing the floor too and making a wet room. Venetian has more versatility and more effects can be created. As already said the waterproofing isn't a problem. So if just doing the walls and lid then it would be venetian for me. Seal with silicone where it meets the shower tray once the job is finished just like you would with tiles. As soon as your fresh plaster is dry enough to paint get it primed and get the gear on the wall. Good luck mate and bang some pics on with progress

Micro cement is so wary to use I had more trouble with the sealers that was my first go

Looks good that Mike, matchy matchy with the dog :numberone:
I got pissed off with it cos all the suppliers just saying oh it's not that easy to apply. I only needed a flat white finish I mean what's so difficult about it. Was thinking having bands and whatnot in it but then ditched the idea.
So just went back to tiles:confused:

The hardiest think was the first coat of sealer it sucked it of the roller lol

yeah I apply micro myself mate.Microfibre short hair and I always dampen roller head before hand.Depending on sealer your using you can water first coat down 10% which helps it go on a lot better but only on first coat.I can't speak for all sealers but worth looking into should you do anymore.just finishing off and sealing as we speak tbh on some table tips to go over oak units, will post a pic shortly.More on an industrial look.

Yeah I should have left a crash helmet really but I'm a right f**k*r so left paracetamol!

free hand or you can work one side and cut back next day with a multi tool.Tbh mate that's where the work is really to get the detail right. If your going for a more rustic then there's give but if it's a polished look it's got to be spot on especially when your got an Arcitect vetting the f**k*r over.

Do you use a gritted lime primer like dg27? In America they call it quartz primer.
