Paper in multi?

We're about fifteen bags into our current pallet of multi and every one has had little bits of paper mixed in it. A right pain in the balls. Has anyone else been finding any? Be interesting to know before I give BG a call.

Paper no, but IMO its been generally shite for yrs now!

Its a F*****g lottery everyday with finish nowadays!

Also may be a coincidence but my hands this past 2 earss around time that unifinish started have been in wraggs!

Were fine for the other 18yrs been plastering!

Coincidence or paranoia?

Used to be able to finish with my eyes shut. Nice and predictable.

Nowadays you need to watch every inch of the garbage. Every gauge is different.

Ohh yes that makes sense if there's paper and black bits in the multi it's gotta be UNIFINISH ffs

:risas: :frenetico: :muyenojado: :endesacuerdo:

It is. :sisi:

Unsold unifinish is recycled into the mix, and to save time they don't even open the bags, they just chuck them in whole which is where the paper comes from. Any that gets spilt onto the floor just gets swept up and chucked in, which is where the black grit comes from. (y)

We need a spy in the BG factory? Start an investigation....

Glad i dont use it
You'd like it , Similar formula to carlite better than board the only finish that comes close to it is thistle spray and next to no fat compared to multi

All of the premium finishes are made in smaller batches and all of them piss all over mass produced multi imo

I dont use multi mate just board finish as for others i dont do domestic and never will i rather stick a screw down me japs eye

Maybe they are recycling or something else to cut back on energy in the factory to meet the "green credentials"they have to meet these days

The spray finish is produced in Spain that's why it's decent!
If you see bubbles as your mixing multi like aero bubbles then it's got uni in it.

How come they dont do away with multi and board and just do a universal unifinish?

I dont normally complain about Multi, in fact im still not. But the 5 bags i bought from from Travis last week was a a total diffrent colour, it almost looked white in the bucket, ever so creamy . Spread a treat and was generally good to use, it went slightly darker as it dried, but never went really in any places.I`ll have a few more of that mix any day.

I definitely think they're recycling the unifinish into the regular finishes. There's no way they just throw them away! Unifinish isn't catching on at all so as long as they're producing them and aren't selling the same amount then the surplus has to go somewhere.......back in the regular finishes!!

We've had loads of threads like this over the past few years.
BG never responds and they never rectify the issue.

Sod knows tbh if they did everyone would be posting how good the gear is that's for sure.
No doubt some will read that and think what a load of rubbish, I'd say try it then on boards
One multi
One board finish
One unifinish

Unifinish wins hands down

Noooooo way uni on rough stuff isn't very nice. I found it quite messy tbh, little drips doing ceilings. 11bags in and I was topping with multi ..... errrrrr kinda takes the shine away

Point was on a fresh board comparison the actual material pisses over the other two mate

Really? I've never used it on board so wouldn't say anything bad but the fact i was topping with multi made me think that it's not as nice to use..... on it's own I like it as a product ...... it just costs too much..... and to make it worse I think durafinish is about the same price and don't need pva either.

Try it on board then let me know

Multi has been s**t for ages, thought i'd go back to boardy for a bathroom on new boards, around 20m2, the first coat was setting before I even got the 2nd coat mixed, second coat was tearing on first trowel was a total c**t to finish. Bonding has also went to s**t recently, so unpredictable seen it setting in 30mins other times it takes about 5 hours. How hard can it be to make consistent gear? While I'm on a rant their plasterboard is s**t aswell boards feel damp, dont cut properly and cant get a nice sharp edge compared to other manufacturers

L

at twice the price though :rayos:
I ain't saying go out and buy it for twice the price and skim boards , I'm saying if unifinish is getting blame for s**t multi try them side by side on fresh board and you'll see it's better material so imo it can't be blamed for s**t multi tbh it's not a valid point , ok uni gets a slating on old surfaces, fine , there's thousands of surfaces and viables but on fresh boards, it's king material.
